As you might notice, I skipped Fugue no. 4 because my printer just broke and I haven't bought a new one just yet. In order to provide a new analysis, I decided to pick another fugue that I can analyze through digital means without having a hard copy. I chose to analyze the 5th fugue for now given the gap of difficulty between the two. I will upload the 4th Fugue as soon as I get a hard copy of the music.
In this particular fugue, we will discuss about the subject, and how it was well utilized from start to finish.
The main purpose of this video is to analyze the structure of the fugue, which includes its entries, the parts, the coda, etc. Proper interpretation of the piece in terms of performance may be talked about in a different topic.

Wow I never realised the descending semiquavers derived from the subject! 🤣 lol, but anyway I really like this video, this fugue makes me so joyful whenever I play it. I absolutely cannot wait for you to analyse no. 24 (if you are planning on doing it!), one of my favourite fugues 😊💚

I still can't figure out the contrapuntal/harmonic logic of bar 8, beat 1. No matter how you slice it, it is an unresolved dissonance. I've only come up with two hypotheses: 1) It's a first inversion seventh chord that tonicizes G major in beat 2 but for some reason the 7th wasn't lowered to C natural because it sounds cool? 2) It's really supposed to be a C natural and Bach forgot to include the accidental

Orlando Aponte mate, I believe that the purity of just closing your eyes and appreciating the music is obstructed by your unwavering focus on small theoretical details; Bach did not intend for this to happen mate! Shit!
