Als Nick van Bloss im April 2009, begleitet vom English Chamber Orchestra, sein vielbeachtetes Comeback-Konzert in der Londoner Cadogan Hall gab, stand unter anderem das Klavierkonzert BWV 1058 auf dem Programm. Nicht zuletzt für dessen Interpretation wurde van Bloss stürmisch gefeiert. So darf man es als Glücksfall betrachten, dass in eben dieser Besetzung nun eine komplette CD mit Bach-Konzerten vorliegt. The Independent hat diese Einspielung auch sogleich zur CD der Woche gekürt:
„This fine recording is unusual thanks to van Bloss‘s approach to ornamentation, which doesn‘t always follow the conventional practices. He has a way of putting a bloom on the notes in the slow movements, which sing beautifully: the music emerges with pristine freshness.“

Spectacular, how could anyone not enjoy Bach? Even worse, never have been exposed to Baroque music (as well as painting, architecture and sculpture from the same period).

He plays with an absolute authority. He takes charge of this and he rules, why? Because he knows he's excellent and loves what he's doing and he's a very close friend of Johann Sebastian.

❤Wat ‘n fantastische uitvoering❤zo heeft Bach het bedoeld, niet snel maar met de juiste timing, waardoor de triolen gaan swingen. Trouwens de linkerhand krijgt hier ook de juiste waardering. Waardoor het genie van Bach geaccentueerd wordt. Nick hoort bij de topklasse pianisten.

Although some of this concerts are performed in oboe, an instrument in this case, that I prefer considering with a sound more adapted to this musical movements.However, I still consider this fantastic and superb melodies interpreted by piano. The pianist interprets the music with immense feeling and sublime movement. These concertos are masterpieces that only a musician of Bach’s genial stature could compose. Viva Bach and his unrivaled music.Amazing interpretation.

JSB made all his music to the glory of God. That is why it does what it does. His compositions were part of his worship. Telling him "magic" was involved would have horrified him.

Well, it's most true that all the music JS Bach made was to the glory of God, and that his compositions were part of his worship, and surely he had been horrified by calling him a magician. I must say that I'm not a believer, and in my subjective and humble opinion his music sounds as pure magic!. Respectfully.

You are right! Another good pianist who plays Bach beautifully is David Fray. Glenn Gould is the master, but these other two are very talented. I really enjoyed listening to Nick van Bloss and think he is a master too!
