Das Bachfest Leipzig, die Association of Space Explorers (ASE) und TERC veröffentlichen heute zum Bachfest Auftakt am 7. Juni 2024 zwei Videos mit den Titeln »Tag und Nacht Freude«. Die 7-minütigen Filme zeigen spektakuläre Ansichten der Erde von der ISS aus zu den Klängen von »Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme« (BWV 140). Es musizierte das Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra & Choir unter der Leitung des Stiftungspräsidenten des Bach-Archivs Ton Koopman. Das Ensemble kommt dieses Jahr erneut zum Bachfest Leipzig, um ebendiese Choralkantate zu musizieren. In dem Choralkantatenkonzert 16 am Freitag, 14.6. können Sie nicht nur zuhören, sondern sogar mitsingen!
Die Veröffentlichung der BACH in space Videos sind eine Reminiszenz der Astronauten sowohl an Johann Sebastian Bachs Musik als auch an das Motto des diesjährigen Bachfestes Leipzig »CHORal TOTAL«.
Die Bilderserie wurde von den Astronauten der ISS-Expedition 67 und 42 im Juni 2022 und Februar 2015 aufgenommen - atemberaubende Motive, die perfekt mit Bachs Choral korrespondieren und dazu einladen, die Schönheit der Erde ebenso wie die von Bachs Musik zu bewundern.

The Bachfest Leipzig, the Association of Space Explorers (ASE) and TERC are today releasing two videos entitled “Day and Night Joy” to mark the start of the Bachfest on June 7, 2024. The 7-minute films show spectacular views of the Earth from the ISS to the sounds of “Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme” (BWV 140). The Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra & Choir performed under the direction of Ton Koopman, President of the Bach Archive. The ensemble is returning to the Bachfest Leipzig this year to perform this choral cantata. In the choral cantata concert 16 on Friday, June 14, you can not only listen, but even sing along!
The publication of the BACH in space videos is a reminiscence by the astronauts of both Johann Sebastian Bach's music and the motto of this year's Leipzig Bachfest“CHORal TOTAL”.
The series of images was taken by the astronauts of ISS Expedition 67 and 42 in June 2022 and February 2015 - breathtaking motifs that correspond perfectly with Bach's chorale and invite us to admire the beauty of the earth as well as that of Bach's music.
