Here is the second video to come in 2013 and this is a review of the Bachmann MPV Maintenance Unit two car set. The model must be handled with care as both units have modules on the top which loosely sit on the two cars although I am going to secure mine on the model with tack. The detail and eye candy on this model is amazing to say the least and performance is very smooth as well as there is a central can motor in the leading unit with a live coupler to power the directional lighting on the unpowered unit. For DCC, this is made easy to fit a decoder as there is a PCB under the large module on the powered unit. The only let down is that the model does not have sprung buffers otherwise I would have given this a perfect 10. There is a few surprises and changes that have taken place since the last video was made, can you spot them?

Nice review as usual Ash, this is one of Bachmanns finer models. I really love mine! Bachmann should produce a separate accessory pack with different modules so you can have it doing other jobs on the layout, that would be great :)

Hello Ash, As usual very interesting and informative review. Nice and also not common model. I immediatly noticed that the model is VERY VERY silent and has an impressive smooth running as well (regarding this is a brand new model). That is really a sign of quality. Cu next Ash.

I completely agree with you on that buddy as a flashing strobe would look great, especially at night.

i agree to the idea of extra modules so you can change them, i also think they could of put on a small flashing beacon for when the unit was sat on the track doing nothing

Personally I would like to see a retooled model with working beacons now that nano LED's are available.

Thanks. Its a nice model overall. The only downside is that there are no sprung buffers and the position of the decoder mount is somewhat vulnerable. But that aside its a nice set and something different in the fleet as well. Ash.

Another great Model from Bachmann Ash , not too sure about your changes , except the extra track being laid with points?

And could you tell me what would be better for my two-laned loop on my layout with a double controller? Attaching one track to each control unit, or just one contol unit for the loop, and one for the yard? Thanks Ash!
