As a gymnast, this isn’t safe. If you do this wrong your arm could easily break. For beginners start with the basics like cartwheels, handstands and when you’re ready, walkovers then backhand springs etc.

I just went for it in middle school; straight to trying flips off walls. Talk about ouch the first time. I had a friend who figured out how to do it too. We got pretty good at that stuff. It would be a good idea to do it safely. Maybe even with someone who knows how to help actually support you the whole way through your flip, on padded surfaces.

Ok, coming from a gymnast who trained in the J.O. (Junior Olympics), please master some basics first😀. Plus, while this is a fast way, it can be dangerous if you don't know how to properly utilize arm strength. It's also just bad form (you can see him twist during the trick), which will be harder to fix later down the road. *If you want actual instructions*: Try being able to support yourself in a Bridge first, because you need to have strong wrists for these tricks. 2nd, learn hand-stand blocks (look em up if you don't know what they are), but they help you practice basically bouncing off the floor without moving your elbow joints. Once you have those two skills, try kicking out of a bridge. Then try adding your block skill to your kickover. Slowly, you'll be able to do a back handspring if you practice this.
@loser40582 жыл бұрын
I think the reason why he had a twist was because he had been twisting in his drills and only using one specific side

As a gymnast & ex cheerleader, I really do not think this is the best tutorial ever, every step he did needs a practicing of its own & it's not basic movements. Doing like this can injure your head or your hand if you are not experienced yet. Though I can do a backhand spring, I've went through these injuries already & it's really painful & it takes days to weeks to recover. I really recommend learning how to do a handstand to bridge, then kickover & also practicing a backwalk over :) or if possible, get a coach to help spot you. I also don't recommend doing this on the hard ground at all & also dont straighten your hand completely as it might break, Always remember to bend your hand a bit to be safe. If you think the video tutorial suits you, then go ahead. I'm not hating :') I'm sorry if my explanation is bad or if whatever I said here is wrong :)

I am a beginner at flips and I had been learning but to be honest you don't need to follow this tutorial because you could hurt yourself and maybe you should go to the gymastics center or Find a spotter if you have access. But if you don't then you learn by yourself just try to watch videos that can help you and learn the basic skills first before doing other flips like a Backhandspring. I will start learning Front Rolls, Back rolls, Cartwheels, Handstands, Jump and Tucks, Dive rolls and more beginner acrobatics. I mean everybody is different so you should keep training yourself and maybe you will get to where you want to be and I think you should work on your balance and strength and Flexability. When you are ready then you start with backhandsprings and Fronthandsprings. You don't need a backbend to learn flips it just helps with body postioning and it helps with the flexiabilty and helps get over the fear. Everybody is different so find out what works for you to learn flips if I was learning a backhandspring maybe try learning kip ups to get use to your arm strength with the push and theb make your kip ups more verticals until you can go backwards then you got a backhandspring. So there no right or wrong way to learn flips and I mean by the getting overcome fear part. I could use kip ups to help get over the fear of doing a backhandspring but just take your time and find what works for you. There is no specfic order to learn flips and you can learn flips in any order you want but start with the basics first. Thank you and have a great day and be safe and don't kill yourself.
