The Petersens

2 жыл бұрын

One of the best things about 2020 was the chance to take a step back and truly enjoy the simple things of life. "Back Home Again" takes us right back to those days of just sitting at home, cooking dinner, playing music, and being with the people we love.
Enjoy a bonus appearance by none other than Mr. Aaron Clark himself, who stepped out from behind the camera.

►LYRICS - Back Home Again
There's a storm across the valley, the clouds are rollin' in
The afternoon is heavy on your shoulders
There's a truck out on the four lane, a mile or more away
The whinin' of his wheels just makes it colder
He's an hour away from ridin' on your prayers up in the sky
Ten days on the road are barely gone
There's a fire softly burnin', supper's on the stove
But it's the light in your eyes that makes him warm
Hey, it's good to be back home again
Sometimes this old farm feels like a long lost friend
Yes, an' hey, it's good to be back home again
There's all the news to tell him, how'd you spend your time
An' what's the latest thing the neighbors say
And your mother called last Friday, "Sunshine"* made her cry
And you felt the baby move just yesterday
Hey, it's good to be back home again
Sometimes this old farm feels like a long lost friend
Yes, an' hey, it's good to be back home again
An' all the time that I can lay this tired old body down
(And feel your fingers feather soft on me)
(It's) the kisses that I live for an' the love that lights my way
(The happiness that livin' with you brings me)
It's the sweetest thing I know of, just spending time with you
It's the little things that make a house a home
Like a fire softly burnin', supper's on the stove
But it's the light in your eyes that makes me warm
Hey, it's good to be back home again, yes it is
Sometimes this old farm feels like a long lost friend
Yes, an' hey, it's good to be back home again
Yes, an' hey, it's good to be back home again
* Fun fact: "Sunshine" was a 1973 movie that John Denver provided much of the soundtrack for, and it was named after his song, "Sunshine on My Shoulders."

John Denver was mocked and bullied by the rock and contemporary music press for writing these songs. 50 years later his compositions sound fresh and fulfilling. The Petersens are worthy artists to continue his legacy of poetry and music. Well done and much thanks.

I missed my home and country(Seoul City and Street: 1988 Seoul Olympic held) so much. I heard this song everyday. This song gave me, healing & Joy. Actually this is the song of the father's generation. It is a very popular song in Seoul Korea. I also like this song very much. John Denver also visited Seoul several times for concert. Thank you for another great video, Matt has such a depth to his voice, a true joy to listen too, as with the rest of you all. I just came across your band about 2 weeks ago and have been binging… way too many hours but all good. Oh yeah…kudos to Emmett, on one of your chat blogs a viewer had complained about not hearing Momma’s bass… Emmett off to the side could be heard... Well, they just have crappy speakers. How true. I was running of my built-in speakers on a very high end and expensive ultra-wide screen Agon monitor. While great display I quickly learned how limiting the speakers where. After hearing Emmitt’s professional assessment of ‘crappy speakers’ I invested in some low-cost Pebble speakers, and Wow… Mom’s, Karen’s , base is easily heard. So, thanks Emmett for reminding us… streaming audio over the internet is subject to what we have on our end. Doesn’t cost much folks to truly hear what Peterson’s have to offer, if you are on old school speakers it will be life changing. Again, to the Peterson family (which includes Emmett by default) Thank you... Thank You. For all you do. 😊

We saw John Denver at Red Rocks in 1973, and he opened with this song. The Colorado crowd roared when he got to the chorus the first time. So many wonderful memories. Thanks for a great version.

For many years the most popular singers for me were Johnny Cash-country and John Denver-folk music, this year the Petersens and Emmett joined them.Beutiful song, perfect voice, great performance, thanks.

とても感動しました😀素晴らしい歌声とハミング🎶。バックホームアゲンの世界がこの若い人たちで醸し出されるなんて😃。またジョン・デンバーの曲を歌ってもらえると嬉しいです。Thank you.🇯🇵

One of my favorite John Denver songs and Matt, you do it so well! John is looking down with a smile on his face! I would love to hear you do more of John's songs. Great job!!

Good to hear the brother (on Guitar) sing a ballad and show some chops for lead work. His sisters all have a lot of mic time .... brother (on Dobro) has sang before so I am getting a feel for all the voices at this point ! Thanks and God bless you all - kudos to Mom on Upright Bass - she has made such wonderful folk and gets to set the bottom / pace ! GBjj
