My Mom taught me to play guitar when I was a boy. We lived in a farming community in a big house with nine kids. This was the first song I ever learned and performed in front of my family. Many times my Mom and I would sit in our old house with a fire softly burning, and supper on our cast iron cook stove singing this song together while I played. It shall always serve as a reminder to what what a loving old soul my mother was. I will never ever forget those special moments we shared...this song was written for us. Rest in peace Mom and thank you John Denver for bringing us this special song.

I have been to many concerts, but none so fine as when I saw him at a college homecoming concert in the mid 70s. After a beautiful set, the musicians stood and left the stage. John picked up his guitar, sat on the steps and announced "the union says these guys have to get a break, do you mind if I keep playing?" They must have played 5 encores that night

I fell in love with this song back in 1974 when I was pregnant with our first daughter. My husband was a truck driver and we lived, briefly, in Colorado. My husband of 43 years has now been gone for 3 years and that daughter is now going to be 44 years old. This song still brings tears to my eyes when I hear it.

Just had to say hello -- we have a bit in common. I'm sorry to hear that you lost your husband and I hope your years together were wonderful. My son was born in April 1974 and will turn 46 in a couple of day. My second husband -- not my son's dad -- passed away in 2016 and I can't believe it'll be 4 years. 2020 would have been our 35th anniversary and the song we danced to at our wedding was "Annie's Song". All my best wishes to you.

I had joined the Air Force in 1979 and after basic training and tech school, I boarded a Greyhound bus all of 19 years old feeling proud and strong all decked out in my dress blues.. As we passed the fallow winter fields and pine trees along the way on that cold gray winter afternoon, I remember staring out the bus window somewhere around Aiken SC and began to hum 'Home Again' to myself. To my surprise and delight, the elderly lady seated next to me began to sing the words. I turned and smiled and she said "I'm on my way home too, and yes it does feel good". That was 41 years ago and it seems like yesterday.

John Denver was labeled a folk singer but, in fact, he was a true country music maestro. His song, "Take Me Home, Country Roads," was a country classic and also unofficial anthem for skiers back in the 1970s.

I miss this dear gentle man every day, his songs were poems and pure perfection. I learnt to play 'Annies Song' on guitar when I was 12. Walk in paradise Dear John. You ARE HOME..........in our hearts. You would be shaking the world in 2021 with your songs, we need your light in these dark dark days.

John Denver, "leaving on a jet plane, don't know when I'll be back again"; ineffably poignant that in his life there would be a last plane from which he'd not be back (home to Earth country) again ... but upborne on angel wings ... . Rest in celestial sunshine on God's shoulder, Country Boy.

I'm from UK. I bought a house in Florida. I used to visit 3/4 times a year. This was always the first song I'd play. The tears used to stream out of my eyes. His death was hell, such a loss. I have American kinfolk, and guess where they live........Denver Colorado. So John is never far from my thoughts.

Sweet, sweet John Denver.....the world was (is) a better place for having had this wonderful performer grace us with his one-of-a-kind angelic voice..... RIP Mr. Denver!! ♥In the early 70's my Dad bought a farm in Ontario Canada and he'd play this song often....sadly we lost Dad in 2013 but this song reminds me of all of my happy memories on that farm....thanks Dad ♥ Female back up singer is Patricia Hawke, sister of pro skateboarder Tony Hawke!!
