Freddie has ridden so many modern bikes, he's absolutely qualified to appreciate and re-appreciate his "old" Bonnie. He's not into impressing his followers with ownership of a string of fancy new & expensive rides. Instead, he prioritizes his $ so he can enjoy and share the broader aspects of motorcycling. Something all us bikers should remember.

I dunno - as someone who knows of Belvedere and Erith etc ...not sure "wise" is the correct word. But, London is a nightmare - so any roof will do. And Thamesmead???? OMG no no no. For those that don't know - Thamesmead is where they shot Clockwork Orange ... and its 100x worse since then

I bought a new bike in 2020, my first brand new vehicle. I bought it outright with the intention of keeping it for a long time for the reason you discuss at the end of this film, to write a story with it. It started out perfect, spotless in the showroom, no miles, not a single blemish. A blank page, the same as every other bike of that type but now, three years and 15,000 miles later it’s been lightly modified to suit me, it’s been to 10 countries, it’s got emissions stickers and autoroute stickers from across Europe stuck to it, it’s got little marks and dings on it and I know exactly how, when and where every single one of them happened. I still find the grey dust from some Polish roadworks under the seat, it has a chain fitted in Lithuania, I have a picture of it with a little Estonian girl pretending to ride it. Three years in and we’ve only just started, I intend to ride it through every country in Europe and possibly beyond and one day when I can’t ride any more I hope someone with your viewpoint will buy it and keep adding to it’s story. A brand new bike on finance every two years is very nice i’m sure but I would feel like i’m missing out on something quite special if I hopped from bike to bike like that. I will buy another bike in the future, but I’ll always keep this one.

My problem is I have a split personality I love sports bikes but at 70 I am really really trying to get to grips with the up right bikes and struggling to like one of them ? The most comfortable was a Harley style bike feet up front but simply could not get to grips with it I think I will always need two bikes one for out and out fun the other to trundle about like the old fart that I am !!!!!!! I do need to do something because it is putting me off riding which I never ever thought would happen !!

Good Morning from España Freddie....My eldest son lived in Blackheath, although my wife and l were only visiting it always struck me as a tranquil area to live, certainly where he and his wife lived anyway. An urban fox trotting along the road in front of me. l loved my glimpses of Suffolk, Essex and Norfolk...I'm from Southend originally.. l will no doubt see some of the Kent, Sussex countryside.... all parts of my motorcycling youth.....long before l was visiting children in Blackheath. Lovely apartment Freddie, look forward to riding the Kent countryside....

Old bikes appeal to me most now as I am a retiree, having owned and ridden 43 bikes since 1968. In the beginning it was a brand new '68 Yamaha 250 DT-1, followed by years of multiple race bikes, and a 1970 CB750 Honda, all bought new. After marriage and no more racing, my last new bike was a 1980 RD350LC Yamaha. Thereafter was a series of mostly forgettable used touring rigs, and finally back on a brand new Ducati Monster in 2006, then a new ZX-14 in 2008. Then back to used bikes up until this year. Having sold my VFR500 V-Four '86 model on, I'm looking at a sub 500cc Adventure bike, new, in the spring. I love riding and hope to ride out my twilight years, enjoying the feelings I get while riding. Freddie, keep on making these great videos! You are an inspiration.

Love your flat - simple, understated elegance & taste. Whatever space we have, we tend to expand into it and risk cluttering it up. Living the way you do takes restraint and means we have to make better selections, but that way we can better appreciate the items we choose to keep around us. You've inspired me to de-clutter! And I agree about older bikes; I'm off to the motorcycle show next week and whilst it's great to see all the latest models and new tech, finding a bike that has that elusive character is the challenge for me now. Love your videos - thanks to you both xx

I’ve had so many bikes… most brands really… all of which I have loved, but I still hark back to an old RE 500 with battered panniers that I bought quite a few years back… I had to get a train to Staffordshire to ride home… had never ridden a right hand gear change and had a somewhat challenging ride home but I loved doffing around the Oxfordshire lanes on that bike… endless hours of pootling! Thanks for these vids Freddy and Monica… they are reminding me of the simple pleasures and how one can take real pleasure from a ride, a coffee, a good old book or bike… lovely stuff 🤗

Totally agree with you about older Motorcycles and the character with history…earlier this Year I was absolutely gobsmacked to see a Honda CB500 in racing green which happened to be my 1st big bike. Upon closer inspection I realised that it was indeed my 1994 bike! The memories came flooding back on the adventures I’d had including the previous owner to me…got to admit that I was also upset at the state it had become because of the attention it had been given after myself. ❤️‍🩹

Hi Freddie. Watching you browse the Motor Sport book reminded me of something you may be interested in? As a very little boy, my Dad, who was a very keen Motorcyclist and Motor Racing fan, took me to The British GP at Silverstone in 1956. Amongst the drivers were Stirling Moss and of course Fangio who won this GP. Vanwall, BRM, Ferrari and Maserati were some of the teams. I can remember little of the day sadly, but my dad saved the program which I still have! It is priceless to me. Unfortunately the 8mm Cine Film my dad took on the day, no audio of course, that I did watch later in life, has “disappeared”.

Love your style and Monica's videos. I also have A Bonneville (2020 Bud Eakins Special T120), Also RE 2023 Classic 350, RE 2022 Himalayan and 2023 Yamaha XT250. I'm also 87 years old and ride pretty much daily. Usually up to the airport to fly my tail wheel backcountry plane. Great apartment and beautiful Scandinavian furniture. I was a major importer of the furniture for many years here in the states. Still wondering where I can buy the Triumph sweat shirt you were wearing while working on your bike.

Full circle Freddie and thankfully still with your Bonny, and more importantly Monika. Great video as always and love the story of Madeleine's Creperie. I don't know how you live in a city, far too many people and buildings for me but I do agree older bikes are more appealing especially when they come without computers and just have a history seen in small scratches and replaced bolts as people lovingly keep them on the road.

Character a great way to discribe a classic, I brought my first Guzzi 2 years ago, a 79 v50. I'm just getting used to its little quirks now, love it, great viewing.

Only just discovered your channel, very impressed. I recently brought an Aprilia 2007 tuono after watching your review on one. Fantastic bike. Keep up the good work Freddie 👍

It's nice that you still have a bit of countryside near you and a Nature Reserve leading to the Thames walkway, never been to that side of the river, but stayed at a Travel Lodge on the other side some years age, not my cup of tea, but at least you have Kent and Sussex to explore for a day trip 😃

And also have the same book you bought...I am on 2nd copy as the 1st copy I bought for £2 in a British heart shop in Helensburgh...but only when I got home did i realise the book reeked of smoke /nicoteen that probably killed the previous owner. 2nd copy bought on line...and smoke free thank goodness...a brill book. Great vids v enjoyable many thanks

Hi Freddie and Monica, I really enjoy your videos and you have given me so many ideas on places to see when I next visit the UK. Freddie you picked up Alice In Wonderland but did you see what was right behind? The Modern Boys Annual. I loved those books when I was a kid in England, I never see them here in Australia. All the best mate and keep up the good work, cheers, Roden

Welcome back to SE London. Totally agree about old bikes having more gravitas than new machines. They've been lived in, absorbed the knocks and scrapes inflicted on them by their owners, then been refreshed and revived to continue thei journey with the next. Depending on the machine they'll also acquire their own currency on the used bike market. Some will plummet in value, others may even increase. It has been known with particularly desirable and rare machines. I think the main reason old wins over new is that the prospective owner has had a lot longer to mull over the prospect of one day owning a given machine. Probably couldnt afford the new price or was too young to ride said bike perhaps? Then the day dawns when that grail bike is within that object of desire is within grasp. It makes owning and riding that bike so much more significant and precious.

You're right about old bikes. However, I had a classic Montessa 350 trials bike, and that experience taught me that if you like old classics, you'd better love being a mechanic. Since then, it's been all new bikes - I'd prefer to be in the hills than my garage. Lesson learnt...

I love the popping-record-player sound as you panned the bookstore. It had a very tactile feel. We were in that area last Summer.

Awe your Apartment looks absolutely beautiful! However I can't help but feel it is a "stop gap" until you find something in the Kent Countryside? 😃 Yes would love to see some of your exploration trips on the Bonny soon! We went to the Kent County Annual Show this year (we are from North Yorkshire) and was awesome, loved the area! How is the Cat settling in, more info on Milka please, she looks a delight when in the background sometimes on your Tuesday night vids! Take care both of you! Thanks for the great vids!

Welcome back to London Freddie and Monika, I'm in north London. I was thinking of starting a channel and calling myself Eddie Dibbs, but when I banded this name around the general consensus that came back was that it sounded creepy! Crikey. Oh I should just mention that if Blowfeld finds out you've stolen his cat, there'll be trouble.
