I NEVER comment publicly, and feel vulnerable doing so, but am compelled to do it now after watching this back to basics episode at the beginning of a new year. I want to reiterate that you (who is watching and resonating with this content) are not alone and you are worthy of peace around food (& in life). I joined Sarah and Stef's community just over a year ago and (no exaggerating!) it has been life changing. To be able to reach out to people in a safe place, connect, share ideas, ask for help, celebrate wins etc is such a lifeline and relief from everyday pressures. The community is golden, and if you are on the fence about joining, I say take the leap and come say hello. Thank you to Sarah, Stef and everyone who is part of the LAD community x

I never thought I had a eating disorder because I wasn’t anorexic or bulimic. Food has been the enemy for 50(!) years. I was in various therapies for half that time; no one ever talked about my having an eating disorder.

Thank you so much for the free content - even though we’re on the other side of the world and can’t have therapy with you/ but we can still find help xx

I used to literally push anger back down my throat. After awhile, I didn’t even know when I was angry.

Such a good discussion. I find I only have binges around Christmas holidays.. Maybe the permission to eat foods I don't eat the rest of the year

Thank you both for this back to basics series! I've been following for a while but still trying to figure it all out. I can't even tell if I'm making any progress tbh. Really looking forward to next weeks podcast. Wondering if it's important for recovery to understand what triggered my problems? It could be 20 different reasons!

I think you might enjoy our January 31st episode entitled: But Am I Making Progress? Stay tuned! Also I don’t think you have to know what started your ED to heal but I think it’s important to understand what might still be contributing to it!

For me, the body image is first and foremost. Starting at age 12, the focus was on my body. I was “too fat”, “too curvy” at a time when the body ideal was Twiggy, who looked like a 12 year old boy. I’m white but I think there was a certain amount of racism involved. It was okay for black girls to be curvy but if you were white, you should not appear to be overly sexual. I wish I had known what projection was back then(maybe on some level i did).
