Quick update on our back to brick refurb in Stoke-on-Trent.
Originally planned as a buy-to-let refurbishment, this property will now actually become a 5-Bed all-en-suite HMO.
Going back to brick shows just how large this property is. The en-suite rooms will be very spacious compared to our standard HMO conversions in the area.

𝗗𝗢 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗡𝗘𝗘𝗗 𝗧𝗢 𝗚𝗢 𝗕𝗔𝗖𝗞 𝗧𝗢 𝗕𝗥𝗜𝗖𝗞?
Going back to brick is certainly more common in older properties. This particular property dates back to the 19th Century. You can, therefore, expect deterioration in brickwork and the structural integrity to be compromised.
That aside, a lot depends on the condition of your plaster and, indeed, what lies beneath.
The walls of this property are riddled with damp. And if that’s the case, it’s usually best to go back to brick so that the walls can have a proper damp course. We either inject into the wall or use damp rods to create a waterproof barrier.
There’s no point papering over the cracks, so to speak. Underlying problems will only resurface further down the line. A back to brick renovation provides allows you to assess exactly what you’re dealing with. Therefore, it provides added peace of mind.
