Speaking of the nerves at the scar sights. I had my hysterectomy 11 years ago, and every now and then I still have a stinging almost burning sensation at one tiny spot in my scar. As if my scar is saying remember me? Yeap I'm still here. However I had the old old traditional surgery where they cute you from belly button to public bone and I did get an infection right below my belly button right before my staples came out. You will have little reminders now and then, but yes life is 100% better after hysterectomy. Glad to hear you are doing well and yes continue to take it easy until you feel like your normal self.

I’m at 8 weeks now. Had to go back to work at 4 weeks. I do my 10000 steps at my shop so taking it easy wasn’t an option for me. I bought a belly band which helped a lot and at the 7 weeks mark I was back on my roller skates. So happy it’s done and spring is here now in Australia. My 50th year is a year I won’t forget

Happy to hear you are feeling good in your recovery. Your skin might be reacting to the adhesive on your patch. I use a lidocaine patch and even though it relieves my nerve pain I can only leave it on for so long. Just a thought. Attitude is everything and yours has been so positive through your whole ordeal. It is a pleasure to share your experiences, thank you.

Hi Renee, I just wanted to say to you, if you have redness and itching from the patches it means your skin is allergic to the plastic. It’s actually quite common to have this. I had the same thing happen to me when I had to use surgical dressings from my surgery a couple of months ago. I stopped using them and the redness and itching went away after a few days. You may want to discuss a cream hormonal treatment instead of the patches with your doctor. In any case you’re doing so well and I’m so glad to see that you’re taking things nice and easy on your body until it fully heals. Love your channel and can’t wait for the new videos to come out to watch them. Sending you lots of healing energy and heaps of love from the Gold Coast, Australia 👍🥰

I'm so glad you're feeling better and are well down the road to recover and normal life!! Please do take it slow, I know it's difficult to do--you just want to dive right in and get back to normal right away. But you'll usually pay for it if you do!! You'll hurt! It will take time and it will seem very slow. After my fall down the stairs, I remember the first time I could tie my own shoes. I started to cry! I also told my doctor that I'd tied my own shoes and he was just as thrilled as I was!!

G'morning! Newbie here, post-op day 3. I had a Total Lap Hysterectomy, I still have my ovaries. My current battle is the gas used for my surgery and the pain of getting rid of it. Hi and welcome! So glad my video was helpful :). To get rid of the gas, moving around throughout the day is critical along with GasX and stool softener. You're doing everything right! It just takes time but it will pass. Promise! I was uncomfortable in the car for weeks! I took my travel pillow along to press on my belly under the seatbelt and that was very helpful. I have several more videos on my channel on my recovery process. I think they would be helpful to you too. Best wishes!

I'm 2 weeks post up, total and bikini. Was moving around day 2, no pain. Got my stitches out but the gas pains!! That is what I'm battling. And only after the stitches came out after week one that I'm feeling a little uncomfortable hunched. The gas is the worst! And I can't stand jeans on me at the moment, although it's not painful, it's kind of uncomfortable

Thank you for sharing your story. I had a complete hysterectomy in October of 2023. I was out from work for a month, even though my doctor wanted me to go back to work in 2 weeks, I told him flat out no I have enough sick time available . I experienced some of your symptoms. Like wearing tight clothing around the waist. I have 5 small scars those seems to be taking a long time to go away. I'm also on the estradiol path, I thought patch should be wore at the lower abdomen area. Any females reading this who haven't done their surgery, please stay away from the Lupron injection before your surgery.

I had a total hysterectomy, everything removed, with a vertical 7.5 inch cut almost 2 years ago. My vertical incision was all internal stitches. When I was watching your video, I thought to myself "oh yeah, it's going to be months before they dissolve". :-) I hear you about jeans. For me, it was probably a good 3 months before jeans were comfortable for me. Like you, every week got a little bit better. I read where having a hysterectomy with having everything removed can take up to a year to heal completely. I'll be 2 years post op this May and feel great. Glad you are on the road to getting back to normal. 🙂

I’ve had an MRI, and just about to get a colonoscopy to see if I need a section of my bowel removed due to scarring. My gynae has had all these tests done so that he can perform a total hysterectomy via keyhole. Your journey has inspired me, I now know that I have to take the time to heal and recover. Hello, I want to thank you for sharing your journey, it’s mind boggling to learn there’s such little information and education on these peri menopause and menopause issues from doctors. I am having a total hysterectomy in a couple of months and your blog is helping ease some of my fears. About this post and what you share about your abs, I would suggest you reach out to a personal trainer that can rehab your pelvic floor. I’ve been researching and the potential for pelvic prolapse after these surgeries is high. You have to start strengthening your pelvic floor and abs ASAP. Ask your doctor about it, your insurance might cover a pelvic floor rehab specialist.

I am now 7 weeks post-op and just about EVERYTHING you mention in this video jibes with what I'm going thru. Makes me feel like I'm not being overdramatic! Oh and my doc did mention the internal stitches a couple of weeks agi and had me feel the ones under the skin of my incisions. I still run my fingers over them iust to see how they are doing... still there! And the jeans thing.... ugh. I miss my jeans. But I tried today with some looser ones and, yeah, no that is NOT happening. How long did your swollen belly last? Thanks again! I can relate to your story about stitches on the inside. Two years ago I had a lobectomy ( lobe of the lung removed) and the incision scar had staples that were going to be removed eventually. After they were removed I was told about the internal stitches. I had never heard of internal stitches. It really surprised me and amazed me that they could do internal stitches.

@nedrachin3869 Same here. 7 weeks post hysterectomy and still recovering. My doctor explained that abdominal pain can result from nerve injury during procedures involving cameras, pipes, and other instruments inserted through incisions in the abdomen. This pain may persist for months or longer.

Hi Renee. I just found your channel last week, and honestly can’t wait for a new video. I found it because I was having a laparoscopic hysterectomy and wanted to see someone who had it also. I had it on Tuesday. I’m so glad I watched your videos, they made me so much less nervous. Your videos are so much fun! My kids now are watching them. They love the dogs, and of course the kitties . I just wanted you to know that your videos really helped me get over my severe anxiety Monday night before my surgery. Your home is so beautiful, and your girls, my husband and I have been married 18 years, we have four children , one set are twins. And a cat. I had three surgeries before my hysterectomy . You are such a kind hearted, compassionate person. I look forward to more of your videos. They sure do make me smile.

The big thing I found I had to do after my full hysterectomy like yours, was being diligent about core and pelvic floor exercises to keep my bladder in the right position, otherwise, some ladies will start leaking and their bladders may fall or fold and increase your risk of UTI’s. Thankfully, I had an awesome recovery nurse who shared this with me, not the surgeon. I followed up with my GYN about this and I made sure I got a referral to a physical therapist who specializes in leaky bladders and pelvic floor strengthening and she wishes that surgeons would send our type of post op patients to her when released to exercise. Ladies, look into this!!!

That was not my experience at all. I was out on restrictions for 12 weeks and my incisions were still not completely healed. 11 months later and I had to push for a referral to be in in pelvic floor PT due to some nerve issues and incontinence. I have not been able to wear a bra comfortably due to pain shooting up to my head and down to my groin and ankles. Recovery has been an absolute nightmare and thankfully, physical therapy has helped tremendously. Please advocate for yourselves and don’t let any doctor make you think that your symptoms are normal because when you get to physical therapy, they will tell you that they’re not.

I had a total hysterectomy after they found an enlarged ovary . The cyst was 11 inches long. The doctor was an excellent surgeon but I seemed to have a problem being cold .I had to get an electric blanket. No problems after the surgery. I just took it easy for a few weeks after then I was fine. I had type 1 cancer and was bleeding heavily before surgery . In comparison no bleeding was great

My gut feeling about the itchiness of the patch is that your body may be starting to talk to you and tell you it is no longer needed. You are good about paying attention to your body so I am sure you will know when you are ready to change or lower or discontinue.

I had a total hysterectomy vaginally in 2001. The early menopause symptoms that hit me, hit me hard. It lasted 7 months and then they were gone. Best thing ever to happen to me. My doc told me that would happen and it did. Instead of years of suffering menopause symptoms, it was just 7 months. It actually took me about a year to feel totally normal again, but was well worth it. I'm so happy all that "stuff" is out of me.

The tugging is still bothering me and I developed yeast in my belly folds due to not keeping it dry. You have given me hope throughout my whole procedure that things will be normal again. Did you go through the scared to be intimate stage? My SO has hinted that he is ready for that clearance and honestly, the flesh is willing but I’m not there in my head yet.
