Come venture deep inside the world’s biggest physics machine, the Large Hadron Collider. This extraordinary feat of human engineering took 16 years and $10 billion to build, and just weeks ago began colliding particles at energies unseen since a fraction of a second after the big bang. We’ll explore this amazing apparatus that could soon reveal clues about nature’s fundamental laws and even the origin of the universe itself. Great talk. Frank Wilczek predicted that it would take 2 to 3, to 5 years, to discover if the Higgs particle by LHC, and he has been proven right. The talk occurred in 2010, why did it take 5 years for the video to appear?

When talking about dark matter, we are making a pretty big assumption that we understand how gravity works at cosmic scales. We still don't know if it exists or not.

I'm glad you are following your curiosity wherever it takes you. Avoiding confirmation bias is an on-going process. This is at the heart of the philosophy of science. It is the only philosophy that asks us to question everything, including science itself, rather than accept a given philosophy as the final answer.

Has the fact that time passes more slowly due to mass in the center of galaxies compared to the mass of the galaxies outer regions been taken into account for the apparent discrepancies in mass of the rotation of the galaxies.

I still can not see how the big bang could have happened in the way they said it would. The whole universe would have had to have gone from pure energy to mass of single atom hydrogen and do this in lest then a micro second instantly then that mass would have had to form in to trillions upon trillions of low mass suns.

Photons of light can travel infinitely far in a vacuum since they don't lose energy in the process. The speed of light cannot be "broken". As an object approaches the speed of light, its inertia increases exponentially. The more inertia it has, the more energy is needed to increase its speed even more. So, an infinite amount of energy would be needed in order to even reach the speed of light, let alone surpass it. Only mass-less things can move at the speed of light, like electromagnetic radiation (photons) or gravitational waves.

Kirsten Marie it’s not science denial. You would need at least 5 levels of evolution that you can’t prove for the Big Bang to be legit. Also to use the rules of the game to disprove the games creator is an illogical approach to begin with.

The higgs boson seems to be catalyst that interacts with dark matter by 'netting' a yet unseen form of mass, then organizes the capture into an organized type of matter that makes up our physical world that we see.

Unfortunately not Jim - the Higgs only 'interacts' with Standard Model particles, i.e.Quarks and Leptons - the ones we already know well - and gives these matter particles 'mass'. (Quarks are one of the fundamental particles which join together to form hadrons, such as protons and neutrons... and Leptons, which include electrons, muons, tau particles, and their respective neutrinos, the electron neutrino, the muon neutrino, and the tau neutrino ) So far NOTHING we know of interacts with dark matter, and it has as yet NEVER been detected, only predicted.

Not really, firstly dark matter is not the same as normal matter, secondly the mass of a proton comes from the binding energy of the quarks, only about 1% of the mass of normal matter comes from the higgs-effect.

The entire issue is about destruction to guess at creation. Cold fusion is the answer, creating anti electrons and anti protons to create anti hydrogen. Nothing ever gets created on paper, it takes hard tack inventors with the will to fail that stumble on the success. This collider was designed to create and hold anti-protons. The real accomplishment would be the rail collider mentioned to create electron collisions and find a way to contain anti protons with anti electrons combined, thus creating anti hydrogen fuel made from hydrogen. This would be an endless supply of energy able to power interstellar space travel. The heart of a near zero "ether" power unit run on recycled hydrogen gas molecules like a sun or star does. If you have read up on the TR3B, it would appear that the government black projects already posses this alien re-engineered technology hidden away under top secret funded air force and navy programs. 10 billion is nothing compared to a fleet of B2 bombers at a cost of 1 billion each., the government has trillions of dollars spent on trying to understand how the reverse engineered principals work. We earthlings are soon to see what DD Eisenhower wanted kept hidden under an unpublished executive order back in the 50's. The US, China, and the USSR all know about the dark side of the moon and have hidden or touched up evidence pictures from the public domain. No one can explain why strange spots in the mountains are fuzzed out by google maps in the middle of nowhere, they aren't hiding Noah's ark in those satellite images.

let x=2.17*10^(-8) kg planck mass, (x^2/2pi)^2/2pi/x/2pi=6.6*10^(-27)(kg) mass of vacuum, 6.6/4=1.67(10^(-27)) (kg) proton mass, x+x/3+x/(3*2pi)=100 get x=72 dark energy, x/3-x=-2x/3 expansion of universe.(x/3 is dark matter, x/18 is matter, 2pi for string)

the evidence they claim to have is in no way the big bang. they speak as if they experienced it and this is what it was like. But I have yet to see proof of a single big bang or that particles colliding caused it or even mimic it. This is a bunch of people using stolen money to design big toys for engineers to build and government backed scientists to play with. This is not what they claim it is for. Even Stephen Hawking is worried. If they are so science based, why do they have the deity of destruction as their logo? Why do they do the dance of shiva in the halls of Cern? Religion is involved and this is not a purely secular project, that is just the way they sell it to get taxpayers to laydown and take it in the name of a religion based in science but is in no way reality. Some books only seem silly to the ones who misunderstand and misread them. To those who truly understand them can see a much deeper truth. If you can't quote it accurately then it is safe to say you don't understand it. Many dismiss what they misunderstand which is the height of foolishness and arrogance which is rampant in the scientific community. One person believes in divine creation and others believe we came from rocks or a chemical soup over immeasurable time periods. True science is based in reproducible tests and evidence that can be backed by said tests. I have yet to see major evolution, a big bang that builds universes nor has anyone else living or dead. It might be true but to claim it as a fact is a belief sold as fact, not real science.

It is sorrowful to see how shameless and conceited these physicists have become. I'm also curious why a "secular" field of study would erect an idolatrous statue, mimic religious rituals, and deliberately use dark idol symbolism throughout their promotions? Keith Durant because if a math equation says it is true, all must hail the master and believe the equation. I don't discount what they believe, I am merely pointing to their belief in their own intelligence and their belief in their answers as the TRUTH. They don't present it as "it is believed that millions/billions of years ago" They just state it as if it is common knowledge and that my questioning their exalted math skills or simulation skills is considered lunacy. Sounds like a belief system to me. There is ZERO proof for a BIG BANG....lots and lots of calculations but no big bang to witness and test, no second big bang to retest those claims and hypothesis and no third or fourth or fifth experiment or big bang scenario to solidify the results. The LHC is not recreating the big bang. NOT EVEN IN THE SAME UNIVERSE as the hypothesized BIG BANG. To compare all the matter in the known universe compressed into a pin head exploding into the known universe to a few protons colliding is the biggest stretch of the imagination i can show you. AND THEN to state these beliefs as fact and discount those who question it is the height of gullibility. No GOD, but everything in the known universe came from the nothingness of an infinitely minuscule point in space that just one day exploded into all that we know and that is all somehow magically related to few protons colliding at the speed of light. REALLY? That is your argument? Religion anyone?

S Sit There is a lot about this machine that doesn't line up to reality but so many just accept what they are told. If only people could see how much faith they have put in the intelligence of man and discounted the wisdom of nature. Mr. Durant is a believer and don't even know it and defends his beliefs as fact with no direct evidence for himself. So many people really just saw it on TV/ YOU TUBE/ documentary and it said this....So now let me get all self righteous and attack those who question my beliefs. This is a spiritual war and many are just pawns for the dark side without even knowing their part in the destruction. Time will reveal it all.
