I was today's years old when I finally realized its Litium Mode not Libyan Mode at Marty's future house. Upon a google search, I am not the only one who heard that when they watched it... I think it might be a Mandela Effect. Haha! I always thought it was Libyan mode as a play at the Libyan's that go after Doc in BTTF1.

Now that I’m thinking about it, I’m wondering where Marty got the money to buy the book with. I know Doc gave him $50, but that was for the Pepsi he needed to buy at the Cafe 80s. Even if he had 1985 money in his pocket, it might not be enough for the “inflationary” 2015 he travelled to.
@Cau_No
@Cau_No 5 ай бұрын
@@Ernie_Centofanti Best explanation: Marty just "thumbed it", taking it out of his own 2015 account just after he got fired. He intended to get it back, anyways … The money Doc gave him was just to circumvent that effect and not arouse suspicions with Marty 2015. The greater question is, why didn't Doc just work with his old friend together in 2015. He promised to look him up then, and Marty would not be surprised of his age. There might be still some pages missing from the script …

13:14 "Unfortunate, all their kids look like Michael J. Fox." They actually had a scene, originally, with 47-year-old Marty coming to rescue Jennifer after she's passed out, and he was in the _middle_ of the screen, his son was on the _left_ side and his daughter was on the _right._ The idea with this scene was to show how it was possible to have the same actor in three different parts at the same time.

My absolute favourite movie trilogy! When the two Jennifers meet in the future, the young one says "Im old!" and the old one says "I'm young!". And my theory of Old Biff choosing to travel to 1955 is that the hoverboard chase sparked his memory of that date
@parker469a
@parker469a 5 ай бұрын
You probably are correct but it is also when his life starts going downhill after George stops doing his homework for him and eventually ends up being George's car guy. I assume things get real rough for Biff after blowing off doing his homework for so long and not actually understanding the material for years. I don't recall anybody saying if they were Juniors or Seniors in High School. I know they are both supposed to be 17 and since it's November 5th 1955 they should graduate the next year in May of 1956. It's kinda odd that I don't recall anybody saying they were Seniors but they must be. Anyway, for the last six months of High School Biff would be funking all his classes. Actually maybe not because unless his cheating on tests, which definitely would, he should be passing them even without George's help. Unless he's also copying answers off of George's test as well which he probably was.

Gertrude Tannen would actually be the daughter of Buford "Mad Dog" Tannen. A little fun fact about this also is that although Gertrude is never shown on screen, her voice is actually performed by Tom Wilson himself. That's right - Biff also does the voice of his own Grandma in this movie! 👍😁😁😁

Yeah, they were already using the scene to retcon certain elements of the plot they hadn't thought about when they made the first film. 17:15 "There's a deleted scene where Old Biff... falls behind the garbage can and just fades away, 'cause he dies, some time between now and... 1985." When he knocks out Biff and you see him realize he just stood up to his lifelong bully for the first time and did something heroic, followed by the shift to Lorraine is absolutely perfectly done.

@You, Me, & The Movies: Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the "intercom" message to Marty said "Lithium mode [on]", and not "Libyan mode". And if you didn't know, lithium basically calms you down, supposedly. But I advice you to look it up for yourself, specifically what lithium does, and how it's used medically. TLDR: In the context of the movie, you can set the mode (mood) of the house in various ways. And Marty realizes someone has messed with the settings, so he sets it right, as he just got home from work, and just wants peace and quiet. Kinda similar to dimming the lights, or turning down the volume of the TV, but these settings affects the people in the house, based on what 'Mode' the user chooses. (See 14:49 for the scene.)

A few things I noticed on revisiting: 1) If Doc had just contacted 2015 Marty and talked to him, none of this would have happened, and he should have just because Doc was the kid's best friend and without time travel he would be DEAD and impossible to talk to. 2015 Marty would appreciate hearing him him and he would KNOW he can do that. 2) Doc had no business losing it on Marty for wanting to gamble because he was talking about doing the exact same thing in the first movie, in front of him so he clearly gave him the idea. 3) Present!Doc just screaming into his walkie talkie all this sensitive time travel stuff, like a goober, with his 50's self standing right behind him. But sure, MARTY needs to be more careful and subtle.

The double staircase is a legal loophole. Two staircases are required in any building over 4 stories. But stairwells take up a lot of usable space. So because the law didn't say those two staircases cant be in the same stairwell, lots of buildings were built that way to comply with the law while being able to build more apartments or whatever.

23:19 "I never understood how there's _two_ staircases." "Yeah. I know. I don't understand that, either." Well, I mean, _I_ once lived in an apartment building that had that kind of setup. On every single floor, you could go to _one_ door to get into _one_ of them, or the _other_ door to get into the _other._ The ground level had a _few_ apartments, but was also a _parking_ garage. So the idea was that one of them would take you to the first-floor hallway and the other would take you outside. It wasn't quite like _this,_ though. You couldn't _see_ either from the other and you couldn't possibly step over the rail in _one_ and end up in the _other._ There were walls between them.

Then in the evening they played the first film on a projecter on the green where everyone can sit and when it came to the action scenes they had real stunt actors doing live scenes at the same time so again you felt part of the film even with the terrorists in the van, you had live action going around and above you it was crazy.. Actually, Crispin Glover didn't want to be in the sequel because he objected to how the first one ended. In the first movie, instead of the original screenplay idea where Marty learned to better appreciate his family, his better, the first movie was changed so that the new future family is super materialistic (mainly for the sake of a joke) in a way that's not great. It's actually pretty messed up - rather than respect that he didn't want to be in the second movie, they went WAY out of their way to fake his look and intentionally mislead people into thinking he was in the movie (both during the movie and in promos for the movie). They could have easily just written around him, such as saying he died of old age or something for future scenes. To make it even worse, once he sued them for doing it, the makers of the film were the ones who made up the lie that he just wanted more money. It's entirely BS, as proven in the lawsuit, and was a desperate move because they were screwed. The case created a super important precedent that prevented movies from being able to straight up steal an actor's look and content without their consent. It is even important to this day with the advent of people's content and looks being stolen via AI methods.

8:45 Marty & Marty Jr have different eye colors as do Griff & Biff. 9:47 yet that’s what happens to Griff & his gang. 16:19 they were saying that if you watch Needles just before hanging up he looks to the side like they set Marty up on a sting. 17:17 yeah Gale & Zemeckis was saying that he was feeling the same thing Marty felt in 1955 when he started disappearing and he was disappearing cause that version of him would no longer exist. 19:46 so either she was pregnant with Marty when she married Biff or they married after she had him cause Marty was born in 1973. I think they had to make this movie in order to make the western one they really wanted to make. I do like in this one how some of the events in the third one call back to this one like the movie Biff was watching. One thing I haven’t figured out how old Biff knew how to use the Time Machine. 22:47 if he handed it off to someone then they could become rich and “dethrone” him. 25:14 she would be Mad Dog’s daughter cause the video at the casino said that Mad Dog was Biff’s great grandfather. 36:51 the first Marty would go back to October 21st 1985 and this Marty would need to go back to October 22nd 1985 to continue Marty’s family line.

I understand her confusion on the Time Travel in these films, here's the best way to explain it. The Trilogy is actually the beginning of the loop. People say there's 4 DeLoreans in part 2 when they go back to 55, no, just 3. The one in the mine doesn't appear until Doc gets sent back to to 1885. The space time continuum is ACTIVELY being changed in real time as you watch the films. Why Twin Pines goes to Lone Pine when Marty runs it over speeding away from Peabody's farm. Here's the how the Marty time travel issue is figured out. The Marty WE watch and follow is PRIME Marty, he is THE original. Every other we see is a loop copy. Time travel works basically like taking a short cunt. When Marty goes back to 1985 at the end of the first time, HIS timeline continues while the loop is now in his own because they come back 30s into the future just as the next is leaving back into 1955. In REAL TIME it takes a full 30 years for the DeLorean to reappear back on the street in 1985 with the new loop Marty in his own timeline seeing another loop copy go back to 1955. No Marty will intersect with another in 1985 because it's their own personal timeline.

I was surprised by how little the Mrs. liked/remembered/understood this film. She has always professed herself to be a major BttF fan, but she seemed downright annoyed to be watching this one. This has gotta be the least-favorite "favorite movie" on the list. At least I hope so. 😅

Glover wasnt in the released movie much, but his part was going to be way bigger. His parts in 2 and 3 were going to be as big as his part in 1. They changed it when he didn't resign.

Or, as I once heard on "Doctor Who": "People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but *actually* from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint - it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly... time-y wimey... stuff." Yeah, Mrs would probably hate Doctor Who. 😅

When Marty got back to "his" 1985, his whole family would have been entirely different. They would have had vacations and experiences and memories that Marty knew nothing about. It was also implied that they originally lived in a kinda shitty neighborhood that Rich George and Lorraine wouldn't live in. So even his house wouldn't be where he thought.

There's a theory that Doc Brown relived the events of BTF2 multiple times because his lucky saves of Marty originally failed.

The time travel isn't that confusing. Mary goes to 1955 accidentally, then goes home. Doc picks up Marty and takes them to 2015, then back to 1985, except now they have to go back to 1955. It's all the same Marty, you are just seeing two points of his timeline at once.

The ONLY times one of the loop Martys can interact with another is if it's the past and Alternate 1985 Marty is in Switzerland. Correct timeline Martys in 1985 will never meet because it's their own individual timelines marching on once they return. Also why once the first time ends we go to the future, then alternate present, then past, the FURTHER past then finally back to correct 1985. Once Marty leaves 1985 at the end of the first film, he doesn't return until the end of the third. Once they return, their timeline and days march forward. The other Martys are on their personal time travel adventure in the loop decades to centuries removed in the past and future.

While I was on the same page as him about BTTF3, but later on I came around and liked it a lot more than I thought. There was just something about it I didn't like, and I love westerns too, so it was weird. Same with Indiana Jones 3 after seeing it in the theater, but later bought the trilogy and I liked it much better than before.

Crispin Glover's reasoning for not playing George in the sequels is itself a source of controversy. Bob Gale and Robert Zemeckis claim it was a paycheck dispute, but Crispin Glover claims it was creative differences over the ending of the first film. Regardless, if they just cast Jeffrey Weissman and let it be, there wouldn't have been a problem. But because he wore prosthetics of Crispin Glover's face, it led to a huge legal mess.

Fun reaction and discussion. Time travel and another alternate timeline existed. In Nuneaton England was the Griff Clara coal mine. Imagine an alternate timeline where Griff copies his Gramps' by stealing the DeLorean, going back to 1885 and meet his ancestor hero Mad Dog Tanner. Before Clara arrives in Hill Valley, Griff intercepted Clara taking her to England to experience the industrial revolution science, thus preventing her from meeting Doc. In England, in need of work, Griff muscled in on the Griff Colliery since it was his name. In 1895 they opened the Griff Clara mine. Because Doc and Marty restored all the timelines in Parts 1, 2 and 3, Griff's alternate timeline could no longer exist. The Griff Clara mine opened in 1895 and guess when it closed? The mine closed in 1955 because Doc and Marty restored the timelines. If the mine remained open it would have unraveled the fabric of the space time continuum destroying the entire universe. In Nuneaton, Griff Road and Griff Way still exist and old maps and history pages note the Griff Clara mine closed in 1955.

Marty actually got his left hand jammed by Strickland's chair against his office desk whilst searching for the sports almanac in 1955. He actually plays guitar with his RIGHT hand as shown during both Part I and Part II. It would be that same hand that he originally broke in the street race with Needles after being suckered by the "chicken" jibe that annoyed him and would cost him his new Toyota truck and his music career in 1985. Of course, he later averted that by learning to control his emotions on his return from 1885 and being smart during the same race against Needles by remembering Doc's words to him in Part III, therefore changing his future in 2015 for the better. 👍😁😁😁

another problem with time travel is the planet/universe or whatever isn't even in the same place..you'd be traveling back to an empty space. unless the device could compensate for that. which is never specified i don't think

38:03 Actually, it was Richard Lester's Three Musketeers film that had the short teaser for the sequel film Four Musketeers at the end because they filmed those movies together. Both Bob Zemeckis and Bob Gale saw Three Musketeers, loved how they showed the short teaser at the end, and thought why don't we do this for Back to the Future. And I'm shocked that so many people when they react to Part II that they say don't watch the short teaser for Part III at the end because it's a "spoiler". I saw Part II when it opened in 1989. Loved it, and when the teaser for Part III showed up, I never looked at it as a "spoiler". I never looked at it under that frame of mind. It was meant to be what it was...a Teaser for Part III. And It was a way to let the fans know that you were not gonna have to wait three or four years; like in the original Star Wars trilogy, to see what was gonna happen next. You were just gonna have to wait six months. Part II came out November of 1989, Part III was May of 1990.

03:14 I learned that DOC came back at that moment because MARTY would've taken the truck and got into the accident which means in part 3 when PANCHO MARTY takes the truck he actually pushed back the accident by a few minutes and that's actually why he avoided the accident if he had gone at this moment he wouldn't have learned his lessons from part 2 & part 3 about controlling his anger

It’s always occurred to me in part 2 that Marty gets to 50’s Doc before he has a chance to retrieve the letter about the Libyans. Of course if Doc died in 85 2 never would have happened so Marty wouldn’t be stuck in 55, and Doc wouldn’t be stuck in 1885..

The best movie in the trilogy is BTTF 2 because of how they integrated so much of the first film into it. Not sure why she is so confused about why Marty has to get back to his own time. He is the Marty that returned to 1985, then went to 2015, and is now in 1955.
