Back to the Future theme - Super Back to the Future II

16 жыл бұрынBased on the movie of the same name (minus "Super"), this Japan-only title was released on the Super Famicom in 1993. It was developed by Daft and published by Toshiba EMI. This game is a platformer similar to Sonic the Hedgehog.
Hitoshi Sakimoto accurately translates Alan Silvestri's original theme within the limits of sound technology at the time.

It isn't a really good game. Controlling Marty is a headache as he has an acceleration button you must press in to move. It can be particularly annoying whilst platforming. The screen is too zoomed in too.Half the time you can't see what's ahead. It is better than what we got for the west but that isn't saying too much

If you think about it, Marty and Doc are the superheroes of timelines. They saved each timelines in order to prevent chaos in many timelines in one.

Giordan Diodato I know. I've beaten it multiple times. I've also played the Super Famicom game. The Telltale game isn't bad, but the game didn't reach anywhere near it's full potential. They settled for a boring point-andand-click, which is what Telltale does. Imagine playing it with current-gen graphics, actually being able to drive the DeLorean, setting the time circuits, and time-traveling. They have yet to get it right, but we all hope they eventually will.

Sadly, no. The past of its legacy is forgotten, but hey, emulation still preserved its history. And well, it’s common with most Japanese games have an anime look to it, so, I’m not surprised Super Back to the Future 2 has that style. But hey, like you said, tis a good look to them.

Sherlock Holmes Not totally Sherlock. The Super NES is locked. Playing this game on a regular Super NES will give you a warning and nothing else. Plus your Super NES is locked at 50htz. But you'll be happy to learn that only the most basic region mod will allow SBTTF2 to run on a Super NES, and that, IMO, due to poor programming, the game actually run better (less slowdowns) on 50 htz than on 60htz, with no bugs.

@piemanization : It's the third party companies that have to pay royalties to console manufacturers, not the other way around. In other words, Toshiba EMI had to meet Nintendo's approval and pay the royalty to distribute their game on Super NES/Famicom.

Many of you ask "Why wasn't this released outside of Japan?" I believe it's because Toshiba EMI didn't have their own localizing divisions in other regions.

Fan translation is an unofficial form localization; the games are translated and distributed without the authorization of the publisher. I'm pretty sure all downloadable games available for the consoles current consoles are backed their respective owners. As far as playability is concerned, you are correct that you don't doesn't require any reading to play. The Japanese text that is present is mostly confined to short cutscenes.

@Lucky466 : Well, lot of American films get distributed internationally. The non-English audience are used to subtitles and dubs, if they do not know English already. When I was in France, a good deal of the films playing in theaters were American.

@ThoseKidsInTheNHood not that sure, it's a different game, that came after, with the official license. There were BTTF games for PC and many other consoles that didn't come from LJN. LJN got the license, but didn't have any exclusive license.
