I went through the same thing. Guy rear ended me and there were scratches on the bumper. Told the guy I would get an estimate and work it out directly. It was an Audi so of course it was like $1k. He got super pissed and tried to blow me off. I just went through insurance.

I’ve seen people say it’s just a small scratch and let it go but I’ve also seen people demand it be fixed. In the end she hit his car damaged it she’s liable.
