As a Eagles nuffy I am really moved by our fellow Dockers fans being true mates in solidarity and putting tribalism aside for principle in condemning the west. I think I saw 99% of Dockers fans as disgusted as we were (the fringe was only 1%). It was such a beautiful moment of unity 👍❤️. I have to say if the West pulled this crap on Longmuir in the future I would react the same. The West Australian have absolutely NO IDEA how many bridges they have burned with WA footy fans over this (regardless of who we support).

Tell you what, I have challenge. West Coast fans its your turn at Optus while our boys are in Tasmania. Turn up on the weekend, fill that bastard up to max capacity, get it to a Grand Final atmosphere, Win Loss or Draw, its a celebration. Show up and stand up, and show your love and appreciation for Adam Simpson and give him the send off he truly deserves. I may be a Fremantle supporter, but I respect the West Coast boys. More importantly were a football community in Western Australia, and in WA we give credit where credit is due and respects.

Cancelled my West Subscription via email they called me to ask me why and I gave them my reason being their disgraceful article about simpson they were very awkward on the phone said okay we have processed the cancellation then hung up the phone

Agree with you Schoey, not only was that front page deplorable it had been going on far too long. Fremantle have copped that style of journalism from The West over the years/ decades and it was considered ok because not only were the Dockers under performing but the majority of West Australians are Eagles supporters and it's playing to their audience. Over time we as the general public have rewarded this behaviour from the only newspaper in town. Seeing what's happened to Simmo is nothing new to a Fremantle supporters eyes, admittedly it's stepped up a level but that's only because The West knows that style of journalism now gets reactions. To all the West Coast supporters, you have helped enable this media outlet and are now feeling what it's like when the boot is on the other foot. It's not karma, it just shouldn't have got to this position in the first place.

For Brownlow medal/suspensions, you can have a system like misdemeanours/felonies, like is US law, so a misdemeanour means you miss weeks, but it doesn't rule you out of awards, the "felonies" would mean missing weeks and losing contention for awards. Obviously you would not use those words, it'd be something like "Severe/lesser" or "Grade 1, 2" etc.

It is really embarrassing for The West. I think there won't be a queue of newspapers that would want the motley mob of the editors, Woodcock and any of the other petty and childish tabloid writers. Any quality paper would run a mile from editors that recommend and approve of it. Only the Truth Newspaper or Playboy mag would tolerate something like that.

The board made the situation much worse, Simmo did not need to suffer through another year and it was obvious last year. With an 8 and 52 record, of course the media and newspapers will come after Simmo. Sadly Simmo’s legacy at the club will be seen as the disastrous last 3 years than the success he had before that.

Nah you're naive to think it was retribution to what Simmo said. Based on the last 3 years this was always going to be the front and back page. This was prepared well in advance. It had clearly been given some thought. I don't think the paper cares about anything apart from social media likes, sharing etc... Honestly that's where they're coming from. But I think it was nasty but also extremely short sighted as their readership will continue to plummet. But perhaps their modelling already reveals that and they're tryng to be like The Truth newspaper more. But make no mistake the quality of the visual effect and the striking image wasn't just someone thinking about what to put for a few hours.

The West Australian has given 100% support for the WCEs since their inception. Its been rammed down our throats for over 30 years with this team and they have a go at them once and every WCEs supporter starts crying . He outstayed his welcome by a few years. It was Sam Mitchell who was the driving force behind the flag, not him. On huge money and not delivering, take the heat and don't complain. He'll never coach another AFL team, and if by chance he does, he'll be a total flop.

People should consider all sides of the story before having a go at the sports media. I agree that the headline "See Ya Simmo" was in poor taste and shouldn't have been used. But neither should Adam Simpson have criticised the media in the first place. Simpson claimed that they were unfair in their portrayal of him and his players and this is simply not true. He tried to paint himself and the club as somehow being victims. The truth is that the club has been in disarray for some years now and Simpson's coaching has been utterly terrible as has the performances of too many of his players. The media's job is to be honest and report as such. All criticism Adam Simpson and his players received was completely warranted. So he should have kept his mouth shut about the media, especially considering that the Western Australian reporters were a lot more forgiving of his poor coaching than their Eastern states counterparts. If he and his players had done their jobs properly, the club wouldn't be where it is and the media stories would have reflected that. It was sheer foolishness on his part to make those disparaging comments. That said, just because Adam Simpson was stupid enough to criticise the media, it was extremely unprofessional of the West Australian to respond in kind. Two wrongs don't make a right and the reporter and his editor should've been mature enough to stick with facts and do so without using a condescending manner. To me, this is an example of Adam Simpson and the West Australian both being a bunch of sooks. Hopefully, both sides have the sense to apologise to one another in the near future.
