Welcome back to Two Farm Boys! In this video, we buy, vaccinate, graze, and sell a group of stocker calves that we owned from October 2021 - April 2022. We also talk about Mycoplasma bovis and the problems it caused with this particular herd. Enjoy!

Powerful video Everett! Don't see many Ag channels talk about troubling topics so openly. Very sorry to hear of the difficulties and losses. Hopefully the recognition of stress leading to disease will help keep others from a similar experience. Understanding the appropriate treatment is also key. Thank you so much. Sickness is always a problem with sale barn calves. They're around other cattle and they're being shuffled around all over the place. One of these calves probably had it when they arrived at the farm. Thanks for watching and God bless - Everett

I think he will get a great rancher cause he has the passion for it. I love to see young People willing to learn and take a chance. Farming is like gambling in a lot of ways.

Sale barn calves are high risk. I think you did all you could and in good time. Country boy’s figuring it out.

I have a lot of experience with mycoplasma. It is a opertunest secondary bug when cattle get drained down from some form of bvd. I have almost eliminated it by nasalgin 3 upon arrival along with full vacation program including myco B vacations

Thank you! We vaccinate all our calves upon arrival. But we think one of these had it when they showed up and mycoplasma had already established itself in the herd. - Everett

when you castrate them do you put a rubber-band around the balls or do you burn them off?

On bigger calves we will sometimes band them. On these we just cut the bottom of the sack and pulled the testicles out. We talked about it and showed it a little bit in this video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/j6uqhLhjlpeqfJc.html
