Backhoe vs excavator is back. This time the backhoe loader is 35% smaller than its predecessor but ready to take on anything the construction site can throw at it.

I don't get why you guys are taking this so seriously. It is ment as a joke both are good machines and have very specific purposes. Plus of course jcb has a vested interest in making the backhoe seem better as everyone that is sold globally by any company jcb will get some of the profit as they still hold the patent.

A tracked mini digger can do a lot more than dig if it has a engcon tiltrotator. I would never use an excavator without a engcon tiltrotator

The mini digger lost all the chalanges because it included the travel time if the jcb was that good it wouldn't be vastly out numberd on almost all real life jobsites

I think this is not a fair test, a tracked machine, wiith one single bucket, to compare with a rubber tired machine. To have a fair test, you would need a wheeled compact excavator, that can work with a bigger tilting bucket, and fork and is able to tow a trailer or use other kind of tools.

OUKRH5 the comparison is about versatility so bucket size doesn't really matter it's what is a more practical and productive machine on a site the the 360 is able in its own right but is limited in its practicality whereas the bhl is more productive in operations that the 360 couldn't fulfil

Yes you are correct but a 3cx will do both jobs at a pinch and slight disadvantage if you can only afford 1 machine for the job, + with a 3cx no need for a dumper really either.

I get that jcb are better the excavators but then when it comes to small jobs like back gardens They can’t get in there and people rent a small machine not a huge costly jcb for one of there little jobs!

Just wondering why jcb haven't used their yellow 3ton machine as a comparison with the 3cx 🤔 Absolutely ridiculous can a 3cx dig drainage in a building with steel up and a roof on with fall arrest nets hanging down , great on a nearly finished housing site with big access roads that have been tarmaced no good in the middle of winter on a muddy site & confined spaces where moving position regulary is a must

Well yeah a excavator and isn't very good a material handling, towing and doesn't have 40 mph road speed. But can a backhoe turn 360 degrees and does it have tracks and what about the blade in combination with the arm

Absolute nonsense but thats neither here nor there. What really jumps out is that apparently you cant run hand held breakers off a 360? We run a jcb hammer off our takeuchi all the time, just need to change the couplers. Never been able to understand why more people don't.

Emmet Burns don't you think it was just stupidity to put a wheeled excavator on soft ground .... its versatility on a building site made the bhl more productive in this application. Both machines have their place and it depends on the situation as to which is more suitable I operate both types of machine but the bulk of my work a bhl is a more suitable and productive machine a 360 would be useless to me

Well again JCB you have put your machine against a machine nothing like the excavator featured. With an operating weight of 6 tons why not put your machine against a similar 360. Oh wait because the whole backhoe concept is now redundant in todays market. Seems you only reply to people who are interested in purchasing your machines. Why not put your machines to an outside test versus a 360. I will bring a 6 ton 360 + attachments, you bring your new toy and we will see. Oh wait, again you will not reply to anyone who dares to have an opinion. Last chance JCB before i let social media do the talking. Anything to Say ?

Lift Capaccity is very similar if you get pallet forks for the machine of comparable size. If all you have is transport speed then thets take a look at price Kubota 25k + vat JCB 40k + so if you bought the Kubota you could buy a small truck to move it about. I get some people like the concept but I just don't like these ridiculous grudge matches, they are so staged. If people want to buy it, great I know how I can be more productive for less.

They are smaller than a backhoe and fit into tighter areas. That being said, a backhoe is a more utilitarian machine able to do different work easier.

Absolutely love this video it reminds me of my neighbours old 1999 3cx it was big he let me use the rear of it and the sad part is he died on family day 2016 :(
