You know the old saying in boating, only move the boat as fast as you want to hit something when docking.

At nearly 70, I can still stern in my 35 Chris Craft. Not bragging, just happy what I learned parking cars and 14 years of practice (you never master it because every docking is different) 🛥with this boat still get me in safe. Only crunched the swim platform once. Teak doesn't take compression well.

Not many in the world could provide us with such a view and experience. No one else on KZfaq can do this. Only a real Super Yacht Captain on a real Super Yacht can show us this world that many of us would have never seen. Nice job, Tristan! it's one of those tasks that looks a piece of cake when it's handled by an expert. Youd think, looking on from the wharf, that there was nothing to it. Anyone could do it. But of course anyone who's ever tried anything like this knows there's a whole lot more to it than meets the eye. NIcely done. It's a joy to watch this done by a team of people who know what they're doing.

I started this video thinking it was all about maneuvering the yacht. But I learned that it is the captain not just maneuvering the yacht, but also directing a finely choreographed ballet to get it docked. Well done.

I always look forward to your docking video's. They always remind me of when my dad was Captain of a brand new 116' Feadship. I had started out as one of the Deck Hands and eventually worked my way up to the First Mate position (after two Atlantic crossings, one each way). Anyway, he was always cool and collected as you are! I was involved with many, many dockings over the six years that I crewed with him. I'm talking 40+ years ago. lol

Thank you for this sharing Tristan, I think this is the first time that you show a 'backing up' in this way with several cams. Always in progress. In any case, everything seems to be running smoothly, without stress. Nice and slow, noticed your bringing props rpm up and then gently letting the momentum carry you forward as you come off the throttles from the stern footage I saw which keeps you moving forward in a controlled manner. Nice work and good communication from the crew on the stern

Great upload, buttery smooth docking! For headcam GoPro shots, you may want to consider the ActionHat (baseball cap with Gopro mount). Will look a lot better than the typical headband.

Nerves of steel! Excellent! Next time have someone use a drone from directly above to capture the process… I am sure it would add a extra dimension to demonstrate the maneuvers to docking!

You should invest into a deadcat mic filter for the gopros it will take all the wind out of the background but keep everything else in.

Great video, mooring yachts never tires me. And you make it look so so easy. Does a port such as Monaco ever give you captain envy when looking at larger yachts around?
