Great work Ive seen a few companies like glowbox sell these prebuilt starting at $300 and up. I collect movie posters and the standard movie theater is 27x40 double sided posters but Im curious if single sided posters look as good.

Here's a tiny DIY addition your poster holder to keep it cool. Either on the back panel, or top/bottom, you can add one or more small 60-80mm computer cooling fans which consume very little power and have miniscule noise levels, if any at all. You can add a "BLACK" micro-dust filter to the fan covers to reduce or eliminate light leak concerns, collect micro-dust floaties and provide incoming (bottom), air flow and exhaust (top), while keeping things inside very cool. This is commonly referred to as the "push-pull" method of creating circulating air. . If you opt for the back panel fan set up, you'll need to add a tiny amount of flow space of around 1/4" such as small rubber stick-on feet/spacers. This small addition shouldn't interfere with the front of the frame. Mount the fans inside, incoming on the bottom and outgoing on top, add your light/dust filters, and you have it. A movie poster frame that's awesome looking and stays cool all day long. A standard vacuum cleaning every 4 months will keep them running for a long time. . I learned this little tip/trick, from my grandpa. He created a 24x36 backlit window for underneath the end of our PC desk, which also faces the door. As clients come in, they see a sample of our work brightly lit and in living color. it stays on all day and most of the night. Well, at least until we decide to shut down for the day. . Give this a try and let me know if worked for you. . ~Alexa Shaw, Photographer . PS - Loved the video, hope to see more.

Hey Alexa that seems like a good idea actually..BTW is there any way to make this poster light although the day without any issue like avoiding the LEDs getting burnt for quite a long period of time(Weeks,Months or Years)? or will I have to use different bulbs if iam to power it from a plug socket Appreciate your help
@ThisIsSaipanCNMI
@ThisIsSaipanCNMI 2 жыл бұрын
@@imgroot5845 After discussing your question with my grandpa (an avid DIY'r & master photographer), if I understand it correctly, adding the fans I've described + adding slots to the back, or even better a "soft-fiber window screen, not metal, to the entire back rather than closing it in would offer large amounts of air flow. Also, if you intend to run this all throughout the day, place your display frame where there is a constant flow of cool air to help the fans. . Another tip would be to purchase the slightly most costly CRI95+ rated LED strips. Don't cheap out! Another tidbit, look for the "KITS" that allow you to adjust the colors AND the power levels. . Ours have wireless remotes that allow all adjustments, even flashing and the speed of the flash. Power can be set at OFF, 25%, 50%, and 100%. . Lining the edges of the frame with regular kitchen foil, gluing it down with a rubber cement or "vinyl tile" type of glue then placing the LED strips on top of the foil will provide an added layer of cooling as aluminum cools rapidly. Be sure no solder or wires touch the foil. An easy fix with a hot glue gun to insulate them. . And yet another tip would be to add small, 1/4 to 3/8" high/thick, round rubber (or felt), stick-on feet/pads to the back of the four corners of your frame. This will prevent your frame from sitting flush against the wall, will allow the fans to draw in cool air from outside of the frame and offer greater air flow. . As a standard the "top" operational longevity of CRI95+ LED strips/LEDs, are rated at 50,000 (or about 5.5 years), hours before burning out. . Hope this helps get you and running with your poster holder. . ~Alexa Shaw, Just A Simple Photographer

I did a similar project but then changed to a TV I use rotated on its side (a pair of them) that runs software to have digital posters that cycle. Ended up being not that much more (got a used 50" hdtv for a steal). Just gives me so many more options than a static poster.

THIS!!!!!! I am a photographer and I saw a photo in Chicago displayed like this and it deeply affected me. I love how prints turn out but I pour so much into the editing process that I realized viewing art backlit, like it is on my computer screen when I have photoshop open, ends up dramatically changing how I feel about the end result.

You can still add ventilation without letting light out. You'll need to glue some tubing that bends into each hole (either flexible tubing or something with joints). Bend the tubing into as "S" shape or similar, and it will be an effective light block - if the inside of the tube is painted matte black it work even better. If the holes are at the top and the bottom, the natural rise of warm air will get enough circulation happening so LED heat shouldn't be an issue. I'd recommend at least 2 or 3 holes in both the top and bottom for even ventilation.

About the LEDs building up heat and needing vent holes...use those holes and their escaping light as an added effect. Angle the holes and give yourself a projected " \ | / " on the wall above and below the frame, and that would be more than enough ventilation to never really have to worry about the built up heat.

If you're adding vents, drill holes in the back panel every so often (obviously not where the lights will be) the drill the vent holes on top on the other side where the plug will go. No light spill and ventilation to let the heat out. Drill holes on the bottom in the same spots for cold air intake without the light spill.

The reason double sided posters are preferred, is because it stops light bleed in the poster. The things that are supposed to be dark are dark and things that are lighter are lighter. If you use a single sided poster, it will be washed out. Hope that helps.
