We started this trip after work on a Friday evening, getting in a quick and easy five miles to the lovely camp at Teepee Rock. The next day we got up to the Big Creek lakes, went off trail through some intense bushwhacking up onto the cirque above. We set up camp and dropped packs, with the goal of reaching the top of Ranger Point. We got to within 300 feet of the summit, but snow fields and less than ideal terrain made it not worth the risks to attempt with dogs. Our camp that evening had a fantastic view of the drainage, lake, and surrounding peaks. The final day was 10+ miles back on out. A great outing in the Bitterroot!
