Video review of the Lifestraw Flex gravity filter. This water filtration system uses a gravity water filtration method and holds up to one gallon. This is excellent for backpacking, backcountry excursions, canoe trips and extended stays where packing or caching water would be difficult.

This looks like a great water filter system! I like the look of the gravity water filter.

This is an excellent system. It really held up well for me on my last trip. I highly recommend it.

hey nice video. The user manual says to put the syringe in the top cap for flushing though.

That's right. I remember now it was a back flush not a forward flush. I'm glad you reminded me! I've been doing it wrong 😩

Thanks for this video! I purchased a LifeStraw 1 liter bottle for a trip to Kenya and really like it. I realized I was going to need something to filter water for brushing teeth and guzzling in the heat. I bought this as a back up to be able to fill water bottles with, but it didn't seem to want to work. I've got it going right, I just need to be patient. There's nothing wrong with it. It's a dripped, not a gusher.

I've owned this, the sawyer mini, the sawyer full size and the platypus. This has the best bag but overall the platypus is the best, it filters fastest and the double bag design allows you to just hang out and walk away

The syringe is used to back flush. There’s no point in forcing more contaminants through. The clean syringe goes in the clean side.

I don't mean to be picky but you flushed the filter in the wrong direction.... you flush from the dirty end towards the clean end to remove build up.

Great video! Just a thought about the "hanging of the bag". It would seem to me that you could essentially squeeze the water through instead of hanging it. I do not own this one as I use a Sawyer squeeze with a 3L CNOC instead. Do the instructions say you could do this or do you think the hoses (judging from how easy they are to take apart) might not really let you do this? Also if you cant find a good hanging spot a little rope wrapped around a tree would be helpful for this.
@LoneCrowAdventures
@LoneCrowAdventures 4 жыл бұрын
The rope around the tree is a great idea..I haven't tried the squeeze method so I'm not sure if that would work or not. I'll try it next time out and let you know. I've always heard good things about the CNOC bag.

Great video, thank you!! I just bought the lifestraw flex as my very first water filter and I think I'm doing something wrong as it does NOT work at all, neither water nor air comes through the filter : is there a piece I should remove (like a protective cap on the inside or something) ? Thank you so much to anyone who can help 🤠🤠

I'd try taking the filter caps off and running clean water through it to prime the filter. See if that works.

You also get the reusable silicon squeeze bag - bit like those flimsy Sawyer bags but with a wider neck to allow more water in and lasts a lot longer

Pretty sure you are cleaning it incorrectly. You flush clean water back through the clean end to force all the crap off of the dirty side. That's why it's called "back-flushing".
