Thank you a lot. I bought it today, sometimes it leaks, sometimes not. But it is good thinking with sguising the water up from the filter like you do to get most of the water out.

Well, thank you very much for the review, but I am not sure this has what I want. You did a good job showing pros and cons. Take care.

Well the pros greatly outweigh the actual cons. I'm buying a few.

I love the filter desgin. Being able to replace the carbon portion is great. But the soft bags are a joke, lifestraw and katadyn took a step back just to make some extra cash. This would have been great for a inline or gravity feed system but gotta get the extra buck for a crap bag
@ridgerover83475 жыл бұрын
I just got one of these kinda. I got everything but the bottle bag. How hard is it to suck out water? What happens when I use my bottle kit components on a hard Nalgene bottle? If squeezing the bag is not necessary, then buying the bottle adapter kit may be better. But if ya must squeeze to get water, than I need to return my bottle adapter kit! How often do you have to backflush? just being able to backflush is a plus in my book! Lifestraw says this is a multiuse item like with other bottles, inline gravity filter or just like the original Lifestraw , etc.

The concept is way cool. I also have a concern that you can't filter all the water in the bag. And having to take the syringe with you is just one more thing i have to keep track of in the field. I keep the syringe for my Sawyer at home and back flush after I'm done with it. Thank you brotha for your honest review..
@Tsiri096 жыл бұрын
That's interesting. I haven't heard about the Flex before, just the original Lifestraw.
@urthpainter5 жыл бұрын
initial backflush clears out air bubbles from inside the filter that would reduce flow. also may clear out loose carbon on first few backflush --- the reason I settled on this water filter is it the least expensive version of the lifestraw flex. It can be bought with a gravity bag, but I've already got an old water bladder that will work just as well. Really the flex should be sold by itself for like $25-30 (and if it is, I couldn't find it!), just to screw onto an old bottle or use with a pre-owned bladder/gravity bag. I'll likely never use the 'bottle'/container included in this kit.

@JIUJITSU2000 Thank you for the review. It´s really helpful. I have a question - do you think LifeStraw Flex is better than LifeStraw Universal Water Filter Bottle Adapter Kit? I dunno which of these to buy.

Thanks for sharing and the review and i haven´t heard about that LifeStraw Flex before and what is the price tag on that filter. Great video buddy

Maybe the water left in the bottle is the difference between the 10oz vs what the bottle indicates
@martinadejaquiz24825 жыл бұрын
2 questions pls if you happen to know: those thick gatorade bottles.... do you know if any of them nest into the pathfinder SS 25oz cup and old smaller PF bottle bag? then do you have a pathfinder 48oz cup and new PF larger bottle bag and if so do you know what thick gatorade bottles nest in that set--up? thank you thumbs-up'ed!

I does filter all the water. You just need to squeeze around the filter as well

The best lead filters absorb a certain amount of the water. Maybe that's what's going on. Maybe it explains in that manual. Edit-- now we know why the box says 10 oz. That's all that will filter through.

Is the carbon filter what removes lead?

Will that fit on a platypus bag?

For those who complain about leaking, you can buy PTFE Thread Seal Tape (we call it teflon tape) from Home Depot. It doesn't stick, you can remove it easily.

Hi, Im just wondering if you could help me out answer a question on my research on filters. Does LifeStraw have chemical effects on Fuel and gasoline?
@TheGazramar6 жыл бұрын
i am thinking maybe you shouldn't have put air in it? then the water MAY have been able to continue to come out?

U need to squeeze or wrap the half with the filter... Then squeeze bag so it goes thru the filter lol

Is there a cap for the bag so you can use it without the filter attached?
@garysaucedo3 жыл бұрын
My question exactly, the Lifestraw Flex Gravity Bag has the filter inline.
@Veritas84Aequitas5 жыл бұрын
When you drink from the soft bottle with filter attached, instead of pouring it into another drinking containment, you drink it from the bag itself and as you suck the water through the straw it would suck the air as well getting all the water out.
@theprisoner66664 жыл бұрын
Fishy Fingers That’s what I was thinking. If it was emergency water then don’t pour it into another container, just drink straight from the soft bag.
@6030jdr3 жыл бұрын
Not supposed to fill with air. Vacuum will allow dispersing of all the water
@zadokmelkizadok95886 жыл бұрын
That's why it said 10ml . The remainder of the water is unuseable once the water hits the filter maybe .

Put your Sawyer straw on the bottom of of the filter to reach the bottom of the bag.

I am interested to find out if this filter would get rid of nitrates. also a tip for dealing with the messed notification bell--UNSUB the channel the notification bell is turned OFF then RESUB that channel so you can turn the notification bell back ON
@brunosco3 жыл бұрын
From FAQs on Lifestraw website: From initial our research, we have deducted that activated carbon material is not effective at removing nitrates from water. Since we have never tested our LifeStraw products against nitrates and nitrites, we do not have conclusive data on this type of removal percentage.

@jiujitsu20005 жыл бұрын

so if the water has oil in it, the oil will also enter in the filter?

It looks like that is way you only get 10 ounces of clean water because it doesn't filter all of it.

Must be me but I don’t like any water filter where I have to get on the ground and put my hands in dirty water. I’ll stick to my MSR Waterworks/Miniworks filters, just drop a hose in the dirty water and pump into a clean Nalgene bottle or my camel back that has the same threads.
@shawnr7716 жыл бұрын
That looks like a poor design. Not being able to get all the water out. That last bit of water might be the difference between life and death. The first time backflush might be to insure that there is no debris left over from the manufacturing process.
@samsworldofrations69966 жыл бұрын
Bad design will leave dirty water in bag all the time 👍
@Big_John_C3 жыл бұрын
The bag is not intended to carry clean water... it's always going to have the "dirty" water in it regardless.
