I recently received a 30-degree Superior hammock, (gathered end) and I love it. I decided to use it a week ago during "dog Days" which is the hottest and muggiest time of the year in Virginia. It was comfortable to sleep in and I had a decent sleep. I did not bring my 30-degree top quilt, instead I used a Dutch quilt liner and a small fleece blanket which worked out for me. The superior hammock is my go to hammock. No more fussing with the UQ and my whole body is warm and comfortable. Thanks Marine for your videos. When I bought my hammock back in January, I received a free UQP during a special sale. Sweet Deal!!

One thing to consider is that the hammock is so comfortable it often completely changes the way people sleep. Many who sleep on their stomachs when on a mattress find they do not need to do so in a hammock. The lack of pressure points and slightly elevated head make a huge difference. Most people also toss and turn less while in a hammock. Even so, for some individuals, it IS possible to sleep on one’s stomach while in a gathered end hammock. I suspect it has to do with one’s height as I have seen this more with shorter adults and with children. But I would not rule it out.

Awesome info per usual. I am a bit of a weight weenie so I don't see myself using a bridge hammock. I could pick one up for car camping for when I have a little one with just to lounge around. I have an ultralight halfwit from Dutch which you also had a video on previously. It's where I got the idea. I been rocking it in the 1.0 fabric for 2 years and it's still going strong. With my Dyneema Falcon tarp and Halfwit hammock it's one of the lightest systems there is. And I am ,5'7" so it's 10.5 foot length is adequate. I tried the sleeping pad in the hammock idea once, I got a special inflatable hammock version sleep pad from Klymit. I did not enjoy it. I promptly picked up a few underquilts from Hammock Gear. Speaking of summer ventilation, Xpower makes lithium powered fan (brushless DC variable speed) that will run like 2 days nonstop on a single charge. A guy could hang one in a tree and have a slight breeze.

I love my bridge hammock but if your tarp is low and tight in storm mode you have to be careful of the spreader bars hitting and possibly damaging your tarp, especially as you get in and out of the hammock. I go with internal poles on my tarp to give extra room. It's an effective solution, but adds weight and expense to the setup.

I just bought a hammock from hammock universe to sleep in full time in my room. I'm laying in it for the first time right now lol instant comfort lol

A friend of mine wants to use a bridge style but most he found have a 250lb limit and he is near or over that, depending on how big the camp meal is.

The problem I have as a side sleeper in my gathered end hammock is the fabric going tight on one side of the head end, opening up and letting cold air in under the underquilt on that side. No matter how I adjust things, underquilt or hammock, the fabric stays tight and straight with a inch gap and not curved to follow the underquilt end. Maybe I have to shove some clothing there to block it up!

Those bridge hammocks are pretty cool! I don’t know too much about them. I have a Hennessy Expedition Zip that I’m pretty happy with, but I’ve never camped in any others. The only other hammock I have experience with is an ENO Doublenest (I’d occasionally use it to try to sleep in the back of a C-130)!

Great info, thanks for rundown! I have the same dual level Warbonnet Ridgerunner along witha SuperFly tarp. I have had for awhile but have only used it for day use. Have to figure out the tarp rigging, knots, etc., sort of intimdating. Any go to written and or video resources to make that a bit easier to figure out? Also, how or what do you use to sleep in it in your home?

Comprehensive video comparing the 2 types. I have considered a bridge hammock, more so the dog has more room and doesnt feel squashed.
