Today I am looking at the ENO SkyLite Hammock-a technical bridge-style camping hammock with an integrated bug net and spreader bars.
You can learn more about the hammock at eaglesnestoutfittersinc.com/p...

I just set up my SkyLite yesterday in a local park preparing for my backpacking trip next week and I love it. Definitely worth the 2+ lbs for the quality of sleep and comfort I get. I also bought both sizes of the ENO Helios straps to have options for trees at even more distances on each end. Those are insanely light and pack up small so I don't mind bringing both. I really appreciate your video because you just saved me money, frustration, time, and from getting wet because I only had a 10' rain tarp and no drip lines. I've changed to a 13' tarp and will be sure to apply your methods for the drip lines. I also subscribed and grabbed a copy of your book. Cheers!

You can put a drip knot on the suspension. Basically just a small piece of cord, knotted onto the suspension, with one end hanging down to channel any water. I had the cheapest (supplied with the hammock) piece of what was like a giant shoelace for suspension for a season, and I got hit with 3 days of solid rain, and nothing got wet. Got a few days of rain with my whoopy slings too. Not perfect, but super helpfull

Because of the way the suspension is designed one also needs a wider spacing between anchor points. This further reduces the number of viable hang options at the destination site. There are many places where a gathered-end hammock will fit that a bridge hammock will not fit. So the gains in perceived comfort for the bridge hammock wii be offset by the loss of location flexibility.

11:40 - 11:55 So as I understand that you mean that drip lines on the ridgeline/ suspension lines couldn't solve the rain problem ? Wonderful review by the way 😀, - thank you very much, Derek.

Thanks! Yes, drip lines help. I was also referring to that because bridge hammocks are wide on the ends, you need a tarp big enough to cover it. And there is more suspension to cover too so more drip lines. Anything that extends outside the tarp should have a drip line. So a bridge hammock, if your tarp isn’t long enough, you will need 4 drip lines.

Can you flip it over, net on bottom, if you don't need/want the netting for a given outing?

I'm a side sleeper, won't the sleeping mat slide if you turn on your side while sleeping in the ENO Skylite?
@DerekHansen
@DerekHansen Жыл бұрын
Me too! At least on flat surfaces :) Side sleeping is AWESOME with the SkyLite, and other bridge-style hammocks. Don't worry about the pad. Some pads have silicone grip "dots" that help prevent sliding, or you can add some non-slip pads. But even without, I haven't been bothered by it. If you have a bigger pad, the side-to-side tension helps keep the pad in place.

What under quilt do you recommend for this hammock???? I have a one for my traditional hammock but does not work with this hammock. What do you recommend.
@DerekHansen
@DerekHansen 8 ай бұрын
I could use any of my under quilts for this hammock. From my experience. What quilt are you using? If you have a tapered or sewn quilt that may not work, but most traditional UQ that are "square" or flat and then those work fine.

I was waiting for a sale to grab a WB ridgerunner. Now i dont know if i should get that or this ENO. Which one do u prefer?

Honestly, I like the simplicity of the ENO. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles (saddlebags), but the storage was fine for me.

I currently use the Jungle nest with the ProFly tarp. I got wet hanging the other day. I have no idea why. Any suggestions or thoughts on how I can successfully hang without getting wet ?
@DerekHansen
@DerekHansen Жыл бұрын
@@roonz2140 I'd need to know more about how you've set everything up, but my guess is that you probably had rain running down your suspension line into your hammock. Is it preventable? Yes. But let me know what conditions and how you were set up.
