Adventures with the Marine

Күн бұрын

Heading into the Boundary Waters Wilderness area on a solo trip. To complete a loop of four lakes in three days. Join me as I struggle when I am forced to bushwack through the dense Boreal Forest. Trying to find my way as I cross a frozen creek more than once. Trying not to break through the ice. From sitting by the campfire with a beautiful view. To experience the amazing scenery. In this epic adventure.

So much life in that area. Looks so desolate but the cute little white varmint, that brown pine thing looks like a mink, wolves & birds. Just perfect paradise in nature. I was on edge about your crossings. I knew you made it but not videoing those parts but som many more then going back to get your camera. Lots of effort much appreciated. Nice venture and challenges. Thanks for taking us along. Nice wildlife captures. I did not know the first animals you ran into and the weasel. While I love to camp in the winter I am not a backpacker. You mentioned the solance of being outside there which is much better than my country road. However, I know the nature of no sound as I love when I shovel at night at my house. I'm the only one outside and it is special until a neighbor turns on their porch-light thinking they are helping me. Never the less, I need to go winter camping again soon. It's already February!

Good one mate. Appreciate the effort and views. I watched a black tip explore in and out of an area for about 10 minutes and then watched a rabbit burst out of a snowbank and head for as far away as it could get. Wild creatures are always fascinating for me and quite distracting when hiking or loitering around outside supposedly "doing something"😁

I learned something really useful from you here- the use of a good hammock instead of a tent. I was wondering why you didn’t make a cosy little tent house. No pressure points. Im getting older too so thats good information thanks. Apart from that i must say it was stressful as i was expecting you to fall in . I realised of course you made it through because you had edited the video- but - i was wondering if there would be suffering by the end of it. I realise too - how much extra work there is in filming yourself from behind etc, as you have to backtrack to get the camera quite a lot of times. You put a lot of work in for us. Thank you

Nice scenery, I enjoyed seeing the animals. Two questions, why did you not wear sunglasses to protect your eyes from the glare off the snow and why didn't you wear the snow shoes you had with you? Take care of yourself, I'd hate to think of you having an accident out there all alone. God bless and keep you.
@AdventureswiththeMarine

It was cloudy the whole time. But I was ready. There wasn't enough snow to wear the snow shoes. I thought about wearing them when crossing the creek. But I believe the ice was too thin for them to make a difference. And trying to get out, after breaking through. Would be really challenging. Plus I was relly cruising without them. Thank you StevenKeery for watching. I really appreciate it. God Bless!

Do you think, when the weather is warmer like it was on this trip, that it would have been easier to just have a backpack? Or was the pulk still a better choice? Also.... i was looking on the map to figure out where you were. I couldn't find "Canoe" lake. Finally found your area. It's "Keneu" Lake...lol

Unless you are going to come across high elevation you may have to climb. It is much better to pull a pulk. That is because you will be bring in a lot of gear. The pack will end up weighing a ton. With me filming. Instead of taking off and putting on the pack for every shot. I just unsnap the shoulder straps and they just fall off. Thank you LousyFIBs for watching. I always appreciate it.
