Canadian dollars though and he tipped nearly 5 bucks. They just charge through the roof for extras like bacon. $6 for that burger is about on par with mcdonalds/burger king's "special" burgers and it looked a damn sight better than those. Medium big mac meal there is $12. Compare that to the burger + fries at Rudy's which came to $10.

Way too expensive especially considering they didn't give you the thick cut fries. They gave you small tomatoes, one piece of bacon etc.

they gave you the wrong fries those are the thin cut fries, the thick cut fries have some potato skin on them and they use the thick cut fries in their poutine

i think thats typical canadian city pricing. Vanocuver and Toronto both have pricy food..... real fast way to blow savings if you dont cook at home more often.

It’s actually pretty typical pricing for what he ordered even in cities smaller than Toronto. The city I live in including the surrounding area is about 160000 people give or take, and 15$ for a burger and fries from a non fast food places is about average. 5 to 6$ for a milkshake is also about average.

Not every small business are the same. Bunch of mom and pop burger places around me serve big burgers for a great price compared to chain burger joints. Ken just got unlucky, it happens

I know people are saying that burger place is a ripoff, but if you add up all the food and leave out Ontario's high tax rate and Ken's tip it comes out to $18.86CDN, which is $13.72USD. At my local Mcdonalds, which is in the middle of nowhere, much less downtown Toronto, a Quarter Pounder with cheese add bacon meal with a medium fries and a medium shake is just over $11USD before tax. I think a local place that makes food to order in downtown Toronto can charge a few bucks more than a McDonalds in a small town in the Midwest US.

Above Five Guys' pricing (with tip), and yeah, flub the first order of the day. Ouch. I would tell them via social media, maybe give a second chance, but wouldn't go back if they flubbed again.

Is it necessary to not understand that the back of house sometimes also gets tips... and as a cook who works in a restaurant that's almost all takeout, I work my ass off and if you don't tip, I don't get much, on top of the already shitty wages cooks get paid, yes, you probably should give tips for takeout. Unless you are a cheap piece of shit.

These are not typical Canadian prices. I would say these are Toronto downtown prices where leasing retail space is very very expensive.

I love a good smashburger, and I have not had Rudy's as I live in Vancouver :p but it seems they are just trying to straight up copy Shake Shack without putting their own spin on things. Pretty confident they're using Martin's potato rolls just like Shake Shack as well.

😳 yep that is too expensive! I did pay 27.00 dollars for one Chinese dinner, extra egg rolls and crab rangoon. But, it came with Mongolian beef, cashew chicken, fried rice, an egg roll, 3 crab rangoon and egg drop soup. Plus the extra egg rolls and crab rangoon I ordered, and I tipped. I got 2 and half meals out of it. So, yeah, for that little amount of food, that's pricey lol. I don't know if Canada is having price changes in meats and dairy, the US is bc of the shutdowns. Maybe restaurants are having to upcharge? 🤷‍♀️

I would usually expect a shake that size to be US$3.50-4.00 max. The burger I wouldn't complain too much about. A Quarter Pounder w/ Cheese from McDonald's is US$6, and Rudy's was probably better quality than that, but the cost of the bacon w/ only 1 slice was a bit of a ripoff.

I haven't ever been back but Johnny Rocket's in Vaughan Mills was the most expensive burger & fry joint I have ever been to. As soon as the substandard food arrived - I swore never again & haven't been back.

yesterday i used skip the dishes to order an A.C.E burger from Original Joe's menu, you definitely should try it out if you have one near by you! either that burger or the Kona burger, both are very good options in my opinion!

I think it’s hilarious that people are commenting on the price of the milkshake - want an expensive one? Come to Connecticut. A small shake at a place that claims to make their own ice cream but doesn’t costs $8.25 here. And that’s American $!!!

I think the Rudy burger is a Toronto version of the Shake Shake burger! And “fuwa fuwa” means fluffy in Japanese. In other words, “fuwa” x2 is fluffy. So it’s not “fluffy fluffy”.

I tried Burger's Priest, Rudy, Top Gun, Big Smoke and a few others and Burger's Priest is the best. I even prefer it to Shake Shack in NYC.

This video really makes me super hungry. That is a small burger and skimpy on the condiments fries looked great and if you got a Carvel shake near me in NY that’s a comparable price for a shake those fries might be thicker than the thin cut fries thin cut fries might be thin like shoestring fries. That Damn construction 🚧 work as you shoot the video😡. Overall a great video. Thank you for taking us to Toronto.

If all in total that's what you're getting you're not getting to sit somewhere and be served during that time it'd be understandable to drop the price to compensate for that and I would think that would make it more desirable also but hey who has ever considered a restaurant to be Hospitality service at all.......
