Paul & Anthony, you could strip off the old sole to the welt. Remove part of the welt at the back of the heal where its been grounded away by an iffy cobbler. Leave a 270° welt in situ. Fit a U shaped leather heal base spliced glued to footbed & 8 nails to secure. Pluck out old welt stitches. Re-cork & new shank etc. Apply leather midsole & Dainite sole rebuild. Outstich to secure 270° method. Heel lifts Dainite top lift. Trim, sand wheel, ink the edges, buff up. Hey presto. Just like some boot makers apply a 270° split welt finish. It doesn't need to be a 360° welt. 😉

You know your stuff....splicing in a new piece of leather that looks like the old welt is exactly what's needed....but why on earth would some idiot just keep scouring at these poor shoes and boots. At least he was consistent! 🤣

Me seeing the grind marks and thinking “hopefully it’s just the welt, otherwise there ain’t no fixing that without making some ridiculous alterations, which means it’s probably not gonna fit.”🤷🏼♂️ Bless ‘em, I wonder how/why people open shops if they’re not skilled enough to do the work? Baffling that they’d even stay in business.
