Bad Boys: Ride Or Die - Is This Series Still Good?

People may not realize it, but Bad Boys For Life remains the highest grossing domestic release of 2020. Sure, that pandemic thing might have helped matters, but it was a smash hit. So why is this sequel, Bad Boys: Ride or Die being given such a low key build up? Maybe it’s the residual effect of the Oscar slap, with this being a way of testing Will Smith’s bankability, or the aging franchise, but people seem less excited about this movie than they should be - because it’s a total blast and we’ll tell you all about it in our review!

I was surprised how much enjoyed the last film and if it wasn't for Covid shutdown, that film would've made even more money than it did. Looking forward to seeing this one.

It made a good amount of money even then, too. Remember, it was released in January that year. The lockdown happened in March. Hell, I saw the movie twice in theaters, one of which being a week before the lockdown.

@@emanuelespinoza9325 That's what I said, it made a lot of money but if not for the lockdown, it would've made some more. Also, remember this is before the whole streaming service wars, so Sony would've left it in theaters a bit longer had not been for the Covid lockdown. As we all know, now studios are rushing to release their films to streaming services only a couple of months after their release date. Heck, look at the biggest film this year, Dune Part 2, it was in theater for only 2 months and it's available to stream and home video.

Bad boys 4ever could’ve been a good title too. I really wish Michael Bay directed this and the last one. Not defending him at all but this is his comfort zone. I really liked the second one a lot.

I love how big of an influence BAD BOYS II had on the characters in HOT FUZZ. And that car chase on the bridge with tossing cars will always be one of the best.

Thank you for bringing up Lorne Balfe. Sequels sometimes end up in an uncanny valley situation without the original themes you learn to love.

After watching the two sequels, it's evident they were trying to catch lightning in a bottle again as they did with the first one. The original was the first Michael Bay feature which was fresh and fun before Michael Bay films became a predictable running theme. The subsequent films had fallen flat, and had gotten progressively worse over time. Smith and Lawrence are well past their used-by date in this genre, unless they are the captain screaming from behind a desk.

That slap is gone and done for me,can't even believe some people are still on that-HORSE. Robert Downey Jr went to jail and made a major come back-GTFOH. LOL. I'm most definitely going to watch this film,I LOVE both Martin and Will teaming up for one last ride again,hope it does well at the box office.

I've never been a fan of them in general but will go for the entertainment. They have a loyal fan base and action while also modernizing it keeps us engaged. However, it's only so much a series can do based on the premise.

It was as good as the first 3. I like that Lorne balfe brought back mark mancina’s music from the first one in the third and fourth because that’s what made bad boys great. Because that’s what the second one lacked was the music. Instead of having mark mancina do the score for the second one like he did for the first, they got Trevor rabin instead. No disrespect to Trevor rabin, but his scores in the glimmer man, the 6th day, con air, gone in 60 seconds, enemy of the state, kangaroo jack, and the national treasure movies were ten times better than his score in bad boys 2.

If people can collectively get over Martin Lawrence being caught on video running around on a LA street in a bathrobe waving a gun while suffering a heat stroke or something and also the claims Tisha Campbell made about him re: her last year on the show “Martin”, then people should get over Will Smith “I’m Rick James b*tch”ing some dude in the face. Not excusing, just saying there are more serious things going on in the world than grown men playing “front hand/ backhand”.

Just me personally, Will Smith is a joke, man. I don't think he's a bad guy. Just a clown. And I can't disconnect that when I see him on screen, no matter how much "acting" he tries. Just my opinion on the matter tho. I hope this movie succeeds for the others that worked on it behind the camera
