So can we take Zantac or not?
Also, apologies for the slightly shaky footage, low quality (recorded with my phone), and low sound (you'll probably want to turn up the volume here). I was watching America Says on Game Show Network when this set of commercials appeared back-to-back at around 8:22 PM eastern time.

Shout-out to PewDiePie for including this video in his bad commercial timing video. I honestly wasn't expecting that. To those who are new to the channel because of his video, welcome! I'm mainly a gaming channel, however I've stopped with uploads for the time being because I'm going through a tough stretch in my life. I'm hoping to resume with making new content again in the future. That being said, I'm glad you guys are here and I hope you plan on staying for a while. :)

A short explanation.... So basically Ranitidine (Zantac) was pulled from the market indeed because of cancer risk. However, the company changed the ingredient to famotidine, which is also the same ingredient in Pepcid, and renamed the product to Zantac 360. So Zantac 360 (Famotidine) is fine, but Zantac (Ranitidine) is not.

In some sense you could see this as acting as a magnifying glass to the ultra fine print disclaimers that companies put at the bottom of their uber happy hollywoodized commercials. Obviously this was for a cancer warning of a prior iteration of their product, but I wouldn't entirely mind if some of the diabetes meds that are used as fad drugs had something like this to ground some of that fakeness/emotional manipulation that pharm companies like to push

Pretty sure Zanatc paid for the whole slot that those two things occupied. They first promoted their newer formula version, then gave out public information about the older formula they'd had to recall. Possibly some sort of regulator forced them to do the have second bit after each showing of their ad, but those things next to each other aren't an accident.

@@carlosarredondo3 I think Hungry Jacks is/was a fast food chain in the US. The ad in question was for a limited edition double burger, in the sense of two literally conjoined buns and patties, and was, apparently by chance, shown in the commercial break of a documentary about coinjoined twins. I'd say that was definitely much more awkward than what's in this clip.

One of my favorite timings when it comes to commercial breaks like this one. Drug ad: Try new Benzaquill. For itchy, watery eyes, it's Benzaquill. Lawyer ad: If you or your loved one has taken Benzaquill, and they have cancer, call the Law Offices of Jeremy Rosenthal. Talk about a Sketch Comedy concept for SNL, or if they ever brought back Mad TV.

Oddly this reminds me of that one regular show episode It was where rigby was telling a story for Halloween about him getting a bed, then watching a tv of the news reporter talking about a killer being made into a bed, and he’s like “I feel sad for the losers that own that” and then it just zooms in to the package with the name of the product revealed. 😂

Surely Zantac paid for the entire slot those two things filled for them to show them back to back like that? It's possible that a regulatory body of some sort had said that Zantac had to put out the public information via various media, including television, nonetheless these two things are clearly placed together for a reason, and not some sort of accident or coincidence.

Because they literally forced a recall and worked on fixing the issues, if america was how you described it, we would have drugs still aviable which have terrible side effects, but we remove them once we discover what they do. many countries have needed to recall things and fix issues that they sold with those issues, its not just america buddy.
