I just don’t understand all this stuff in cdramas and kdramas about fake bags. If someone gives you a gift the price is irrelevant. It’s a gift. Be grateful and say thank you.

Por los videos ya sea coreanos, japoneses o chinos veo que este trato es algo muy presente y muy marcado en esos paises ya que son muy competitivos entre ellos mismos, pero generalmente en los demás paises esto no se ve, bueno, quizás si se vea un poco pero no al extremo que lo vez en estas series, debe ser difícil vivir sin saber quien realmente te quiere por ti y no por tu dinero y será un infierno total pensando que si algún día te falta el dinero serás un ser sin valor y descartable, vivirán estresados, con razón hay tanto suicidio por esos lares.

I agree with you but, in this case it seems as if the daughter in law is belittling the mother in law by buying her a fake handbag. But well in both korea and china if you don't have expensive or branded stuff it decreases your value. It's bullshit, we don't go by that.

The issue is not the fake bag. The issue us the DIL's mother got a real one while she got the fake one. She was also talking about how she did so much house work for the couple and help them taking care of their child when the DIL's mother refused to do help/think doing housework is beneath her.

Even if the bag was fake, why put it in a perfectly fine bowl of soup? By the way, if the bag costs 1500 yuan it's still luxury. And what about smashing bottles in front of a child?

She was hurt that her DIL bought an expensive one for her own mom, but she, the MIL, who does all the work and take care of their child, doesn't seem to be appreciated as much. In all honestly, the DIL didn't buy her a fake bag, but if my MIL was taking care of the house, doing the cooking and taking care of my kid, my Mom would understand if I bought my MIL a more expensive gift not just for Mom's day, but just to show appreciation for all she does. the MIL must've felt under appreciated when she saw the wechat...but somewhere there was a misunderstanding so she shouldn't have ruined a good purse, fake or not and a good soup too! She could've just shown her disappointment in them.

@@Surftouka almost everything you wrote is about how much MIL did for DIL. If that were an acceptable justification, then DIL should certainly reward her own mother ten, 100 times more than her MIL, just because of what her mother did for her by giving birth to her and raising her. Some people may agree with this, I think it's a toxic mentality for any relationship, but if people like to keep scores, mother will beat mother-in-law 100:1. That being said, MIL's behaviour was unacceptable in any civil settings.

This drama is called Simple Days. It’s on KZfaq. But, that’s why you don’t have your mother in law working in your house. They are very noisy and always getting into your business. You end of having no privacy. Just look where they are in the beginning of the movie in a hotel and still couldn’t have no peace. I just started watching and I see the mother in law needs to get her own place and get a life and not making trouble for her son and daughter in law. She need to get a life and stay out of there’s. Plus, I knew that the Aunt stole the real bag from her if only they had looked at the security cameras and saw her aunt switching the bag. I do hope that it comes out. Plus, why make a big deal about it. It just goes to show you how people really think about you no matter how nice you try to be or try your best to get along with your family in laws. Divorce is imminent especially when you have a Moma’s boy for as husband. Ok😊

I have only watched this clip but if I understand the situation correctly, the mother in law was so hurt about the fake bag because she thought the daughter in law was making fun of her. Her giving her mother a real brand bag while giving the mother in law a fake bag is like saying "You don't deserve the same treatment as my actual mother." Plus, the mother in law read the message in which she was belittled for her humble upbringing, since she would never be able to tell the difference on her own. It's not about the bag, it's about seeing whether she is really appreciated as a family member or just treated like a cheap servant. Of course, I know that the aunt stole the bag, it was very obvious with the way she acted. But the mother in law didn't know and really thought that her daughter in law was insulting her.

The greed of some older people in these dramas is beyond belief. Are they really like that? No disrespect but it seems to be in EVERY SINGLE C-DRAMA AND K-DRAMA I have seen. To put such importance on gifts and how much it costs is soooo materialistic. In what way does it show respect. It seems that some places in this world are all about materialistic things.l. Especially greedy older people. Perhaps something is lost in translation but as it was never disused in any show as to why it is important I'll go with greedy

To be fair she was perfectly ok with getting a fake bag, until she sees DIL gave her own mother a real one but still pretending they are getting the same thing. People care about things being fair more so than how much something cost. If your parents got you a gift but give your sibling a gift that worth 10x more then tells you they are treating you the same , you wouldn't simply be happy and greatful either. I know in this case the MIL simply didn't have the right information, but if what she thought was true her complaint is not unreasonable, aside from putting the bag in the soup.

I raise up in multi generations family. There many hidden rules to make it work. Priority during meal time, no discussion, no talk, not a fight. At least there 6 aunties, 3 uncles living under the same roof. So there always some sort of "gang" but children alwasy exclude. Any children mingle anyone, there some security need to take notice my mum nvr let me stay alone with any male member alone. Always in living hall etc. of course valuable items is always put if sights. This system is amazing IF the members is interesting and wise people. If its "foolish, greedy etc" .. its a headache..

Its not a 'little thing', tho. Having had inlaws like the MiL here and having a breakdown because of their drip, drip of cruelty and control.....i think the wife did the right thing. I love my husband dearly, but I regret enduring his parents, which we're still doing with his 100 yr old mother. Has dementia and will poop herself just so I clean it up, never does it any other time. She's evil. The MiL in the story is no different to mine. Graspy, greedy, narcissist.
