This kind of mother in law is scary. She doesn't have boundaries she always interfere and her son is a coward. He should tell his mother she is too much. They have their own family now and inlaws should respect that and should set boundaries. Good thing the wife has good parents who support her all the way.

It's a cultural norm for parents/grandparents to meddle in their kids' marriage, though this trend is slowly fading in China. But yk, with some old-fashioned older folks, they still feel entitled to do this, since their marriages were handled the same way when they were young.

When you date someone, you should get to know their family as well. Dating needs to be a longer process than a few months. I think divorce could be prevented in most cases if both people were aware of their values and what they want for their household.

all 3 of them are actually problematic. Mother in law has a point but is too aggressive and doesnt know boundaries. Son is a coward who cant stand up & speak for his family. Wife is technically wasteful for someone who is living in the house mother in law paid for. 😅

Asian old tradition where grandparents stay close to their children, grandchildren for love and support each other is great, nothing wrong with that... but the relationship can easily be manipulated and/or abused causing pains and suffering that may break the unity into pieces. It's all about controlling and entitlement that selfishness is the only thing that matter.

I see everyone complaining about his Mom's interference. Yet her parents are interfering too. From what I can see, both family's are well intentioned. His Mom came back because she believes he'll be living alone and will need assistance looking after his daughter when he's not home for work and such. Attempting to be supportive in her own way. Meanwhile, her parents bought a whole other place. Trying to be supportive as well after their daughter's divorce. Everyone says he doesn't have a back bone, but doesnt that apply to her too? Since she signed the paperwork her parents brought over for the new apartment. Even though living somewhere else was never their plan. The entire plan was to get a divorce to get them off their backs. So they could enjoy the love life they wanted with their daughter at home without anymore interference. Y'all only want to blame the husband for that when they're both guilty of letting their parents rule their marriage. Like come on! In the last video the husband went to her family to apologize for his family's behavior before the divorce. And her parents said she couldn't go home with him unless his parents apologized to all of them. Like she isn't a grown adult with a child of her own capable of making that decision for herself. Now the couple are both looking silly. Because they only got a divorce to get their parents out of their relationship. Only to for their parents to still be as controlling as they were before the divorce. Honestly, they both were too scared to set boundaries with their parents. That's how it got to this point. I wouldn't be surprised if their parents start trying to set up dating opportunities now that they're both legally divorced. 🙄

During their marriage the only people who crossed boundaries were HIS parents. HIS mother moved in with them and belittled the wife in EVERY possible way. HER parents were only listened to her on the phone for emotional support. Not to mention HIS father is the typical disgusting misogynist type that thinks the daughter-in-law is a slave. Her parents bought her a place to live AFTER she left the marriage. How is that interfering in their marriage when they helped her after they were divorced. Why would she need to stand up to her parents for helping her and her child?

It's not that they don't love each other anymore. It's that marriage in Asian culture is too much responsibility and can end in ugly ways. Like being a servant to your mother in law.

No, but I agree. The end is the end. I'd be so mad at him all the time for not standing up for me. This is the first clip I saw, but isn't the usual trope also the husband scolding the wife for standing up for herself as well? So not only did he allow the abuse, he joined in with suppressing her. I'd be done. Not screwing him the next day?
