Originally posted in December 2012, you may be thinking, "hang on, I thought this one was back up?" About a fortnight ago, I got a ID claim on the review that wasn't released, which blocked the review in a number of territories. Since the previous post was a slightly re-edited version of the review I had created for DailyMotion rather re-cutting further for KZfaq, as I usually do now, and I was unhappy with the voiceover, I took the opportunity to go through the process of remastering it, even though I don't have the original files. This is also to tie in with Rob Cohen's new film The Hurricane Heist. This version runs 4m 51s shorter than the original (!), with the following changes: - *NEW* voiceover for 80% of the review. The main body is the review is almost totally re-voiced, and much of the running time loss is the fact I'm no longer exaggerating my vocals; that it's such a dramatic difference makes me wish I had been more natural back then. The video has been recut to fit the new flow. - Upscaled to 720p, the previous re-post was 360p. - The opening and closing voiceover, which could not be replaced due to the background music, have been tweaked and trimmed to remove the dragging, as best as possible. - Likewise, all the on-camera footage has also had the audio greatly altered to alleviate the elongated syllables. Obviously I can't totally change my performance, and this is from the "shouty period", so be aware that my performance is a bit excessive. - Cut down some of the film clips. - Added a clip from The World is Not Enough to illustrate my point. - Two minor lines I snipped because I think they fall flat. I think this new version is an enormous improvement, and I'm much happier with it now. Even if you've seen it before, give it another look, and see it again for the first time. Have fun!

Triple X is one of those guilty pleasure action movies in the vein of Commando; an over-the-top, drenched in cheese, check-your-brain-at-the-door escapist flick that you watch with popcorn in one hand and beer in the other... preferably with a group of friends. And if nothing else, it serves as a great time capsule for the state of pop culture during the time period it came out in.

Sadly at the end, where X parachutes onto AHAB, a stuntman died when he collided with the bridge as his safety harness wouldn't release and most of this footage is shown on screen, minus the point where he slammed into the bridge and died. Which you would think would be insulting to his memory, "we are sorry our stupid stunt killed your loved one, but budget constraints mean we will use his last moments in our movie", I bet his family loved that.

@@kadejito1 it really is a tough situation for them I totally agree. I personally think that if I were in that position or a friend of theres I would have been ok as long as that's what they loved doing and there's no sign of it being anything but a freak accident. More power too them though look up some of the stunt coordination in a donny yen movies filmed in southeast Asia to see stunt people being taken advantage of. Over there it's not uncommon to not get paid no matter how many falls and fights you filmed if it doesn't end up in the movie those faceless goon stuntmen didn't make a dime.
@Fallenecho45

@Go Time Now pretty much yeah. If they're not already a big name there are stories of stuntmen who take an equivalent to a couple hundred bucks to do stunts or take falls that in the west would've been safer and less dangerous.

I think the 'extreme' obsession of the early 2000's was the last dying breath of the 90's. The 90's lived and breath the idea of being 'extreme' but the 90's version was very childish with lots of bright colors and weird shapes. The 'extreme' of the early 2000's was modeled after Call of Duty. Being extreme by being 'dark, gritty, realistic, and brown'

Huu. You're right. Triple X pre-dates it by a year. My mistake. Maybe it was the other way around then. Maybe the realistic extreme of the early 00's lead to rise of the realistic extreme in other media like video games.

Yeah, I noticed that a lot of people complain about your vocals dragging, but I didn't mind it much at all, but hey, it's a mayority opinion. Fun fact about me watching the Triple X movie; well, it's second sequel, really. See, I saw Return Of Xander Cage...FREE. ON IMAX. What happened was that in the theater I was in, they screwed up the IMAX Rogue One showing by the last 40 minutes or so of the screen turning a bit green at times, and as a result, they gave us tickets for a free IMAX movie, and I KNEW what movie to pick it for since, well, how often do you get see a IMAX 3D movie for FREE? I did enjoy the sequel in a stupid fun kind of way, although me seeing it for free...might be a bit of the cause, but it being a little self-aware that it was silly did help a bit.

xXx turns 20 today! I remember i saw it at the Strand theater with my sisters This was following Vin Diesel's success after Fast & Furious 1, thankfully it paved the rest of his career Same summer as Bourne Identity making secret agents cool but with an extreme youthful twist My guess is this was a precursor to Samuel L. Jackson's role as Nick Fury for the MCU The action and stunts are a lot of fun, this popularized the use of extreme sports and stunts in action movies and inspired many imitators Raises the adrenaline even higher thanks to director Rob Cohen Glad the movie gained a cult following despite mixed reviews and lead to 2 sequels What a time capsule too; full of references to popular culture at the time, including fashion, music, and technology

Return of Xander Cage is what this movie wasn't. While xXx tried to have it's cake and eat it too, Return of Xander Cage knows exactly what it is; a fun, self-aware, balls-to-the-walls action movie, unlike this one which tried to be both self-aware and serious that it ended up being just embarassing. And most of all, *Return of Xander Cage did not pander to it's demographic!*

This film is so cheap, especially for a hollywood action movie that was supposed to capitalize on the fast and the furious success . Instead of that, we have to go through a lot of bullshit, including an underacting Diesel outrunning an AVALANCHE for the sake of having a pointless EXXXTREEEEEEME stunt sequence just to keep the audience awake. But the worst are the props : Diesel's oversized swiss army gun looks like a Nerf toy and his so called advanced rocket launcher is made of a PVC pipe attached to a handycam. This junk is like Jackass meets a Van Damme's DTV .

I Love the hell out of this movie and I have since I first saw it wayyy back in 2002...in a year with a James Bond movie(which of the many things this movie is derivative of James Bond is the main thing) and The Bourne Identity this movie was still great and I actually like it more than Die Another Day(which I know is a low point for James Bond but I still love it) and almost as much as Bourne Identity and in some ways more...it's hella cliche no doubt but Vin Diesel is so likable in the role unlike in alot of his other movies where I'm really not liking him as much...Sam Jackson is great in anything and Martin Csokas I've loved that guy in everything since I saw this...even the lesser known bad guys were cool to me and Asia Argento was cool and hot as hell as the Bond Girl with dude playing Toby as the series Q also fun and likable and then the setting in Prague(a city I've been dying to visit ever since I saw it in this and Blade 2 another classic from 2002) is used to great effect..it's really an underrated movie imo and it's one of a handful of a movies that I can watch over and over and its still fun and hardly ever gets old...funny watching this one and other old spy movies like mi 2 and seeing the tech they had that was state of the art at the time but now it's ancient like the two way with Augustus video calling I was like wtf back then and 19 years later I'm actually still amazed at what phones can do but the cheapest phone in the world can video call like nothing now...where will be in 2040?
