Thank you so much for making this video. This is my 3rd pregnancy but it’s been an 8 year gap since I had a baby. I don’t remember getting this test done with my other children. This is my husbands first child, and being older now I’m more on edge and alert. I just got a letter in the mail saying my doctor has been trying to reach me about abnormal lab result and we were freaking out. I called but they told me to wait 3 days until my appointment I already have. My first time going through this so I was freaking out and wanted to educate myself. This was encouraging, I have been non-stop watching these videos for hope. Really appreciate the part of you talking about putting on a brave face. I will be FTM and I don't know how all the moms out there get all these heartwrenching news and continue to put on a brave face in front of everyone. I am glad people are speaking out on these screening tests because without it I would be losing my mind.

I am going through the exact same thing right now, I’m waiting on my results from my NIPT test it’s been an emotional rollercoaster so far and so stressful and I’m just praying for a result similar to yours. Thank you so much for sharing your story

Ah, man. What a rollercoaster! Sorry y’all had to go through that scare. Of course we want the best for our babies so it would be a lot to go through. My sister went through something similar. And unfortunately she was under the impression that her son was going to be born with Down syndrome for the majority of her pregnancy. So she had to go through the stress of that for nothing, for too long. He was not born with Down syndrome. Those screenings have been a scare for too many people for my liking, so we opt out of them.

Thank you for this video, I am having my first child and going through the same exact thing. I have my appointment tomorrow to get the other testing done including the ultrasound. You gave me a little hope so I will stay positive and pray for the best 😊

Just curious, is this similar to the NIPT testing, or is this done additionally?

I know this video is from over a year ago but Im currently 12 1/2 weeks and the other day I got my NIPT test results back and they told me theres a possibility my baby girl has trisomy 13/patau syndrome. Very scary to hear and they're doing some thorough ultrasounds next week to look for any physical indications before they jump to amniocenteses. It's hard not to stress about it or be scared bc thats such a life threatening genetic disorder and Im praying the ultrasounds next week will indicate GOOD news. This is my first pregnancy and I'm on edge praying for my baby girl to live a long healthy life.

I had my quad screen test and it came back abnormal (positive results) and suggested MaterniT21, worried and this is stressful

So you got call from doctor but in my case I got call from her nurse telling me that your baby has high risk of trisomy 18 which is very deadly. I was so shocked and never heard of that. Finally I got call from genetic counselor and she schduled my cvs and amniocentesis and both came all clean and nothing was wrong. All scans showed totally normal healthy baby. I think this nipt is crap and ruined my whole pregnancy. I was depressed and so much stressed. 😪

What was the name of the blood test you took that was 99.9% accurate, that you took instead of the amniocentesis?

My test also came back for high risk trisomy 21. I was soo confused by the numbers. So far the ultrasound came back normal but the blood Did come back high risk.. I have an appointment with a genetics counselor in 2 weeks. I’m praying everything comes out fine 🙏🏻

Right nw I'm facing that rollercoaster stage.. Its my first pregnancy n today i hv done my 20th week ultrasound screening.. They said all the baby organs were amazing.. But at the end they kept a twist saying ur baby's nasal elbow is not seen in the scan which might be a chance of having down syndrome! Og my god. It ws heartbreaking for us suddenly.. Bcz we didn't had any particular idea about all these chromosome syndromes. They suggested us to do amniocentesis test (they said 100%accuracy )which is basically inserting a needle directly into ur abdomen wen the small portion of ur placenta is not occupied by baby n take out 20cc of amniotic fluid for testing.. But this process has a risk of miscarriage 1 in 300!! Now we have decided to go ahead with NIPT which is non invasive method which only needs a small amount of mother's blood (they said 99%accurate result).. So I'm going to get that test done n will wait for the results.. Hope everything goes well with my baby🙏 Update: We got the NIPT results yesterday within 7-8 days.. God Grace our baby is safe.. Low risk to all down syndrome.. Baby is 100% alright 😍

I found your video so helpful for people who experience the same..I went last week for my OB's appointment they told me that I have a high risk of having a baby with down syndrome. 1:77 that's the ratio they gave me. It's so stressful and scary at the same time. I don't know how high is that ratio. amniocentesis is invasive and NIPT is so expensive. I don't know what to choose or if I will skip this process. By the way the NT measurement of my baby is 2.2cm fluid found in his neck, but my blood test messed up that's why they put me as high risk.

Our blood test came back yesterday 1 in 35 down syndrome but the way I look at that is that's 97% that there's nothing wrong. HOPE. What to do next?

How do they test or determine in utero how severe Down syndrome might be? I am currently 16 weeks with twin girls, and I got the Non invasive bloodwork back and the Dr said we’re sorry, 1 of your babies is positive for Trisomy 21... that was it. The genetic counselor didn’t make it sound all that much more promising- and of course suggested amnio or selective reduction. Stating that 80% of DS babies are aborted! It feels like they push you in that direction. Anyways I went to do a amniocentesis and they couldn’t do it- couldn’t get the needle in and then couldn’t get fluid out. I’m so stressed, I want to know to be prepared but they did not give me much confidence as to them doing the procedure. When the Dr’s talk they make it sound like the non invasive bloodtest is a positive 90% chance. They didn’t show me any paperwork or numbers other than my age makes it go up... so I’m currently on stress level 💯

I got NIPT at 10 weeks and quad at 15 weeks. I wonder if something had changed in between week 10 and week 15? (1:168 for DS, 1:68 for Trisomy 18 by quad test. NIPT is low risk (1:10,000) My doctor says NIPT is much more accurate. However, the quad test was done later. Is it a good idea to do one more NIPT? My 20 week’s anatomy ultrasound showed everything is WNL. I don’t feel like doing amniocentesis….

My wife’s doctor called few days and told us that our baby is 1/200 of having Down syndrome 0.05% chance. My wife is 18 weeks pregnant right now. It’s still a scary feeling even though it’s not even a 1% chance. We hope everything goes well for me n my wife. I really don’t care the gender is. Just as long as he or she is healthy. 😔
