I was told last year my oldest cat would be needing a dental within a year. I started him on the Hill’s Oral Care (just the OTC stuff, not prescription) a few months prior to his appointment this year and when we went in last week the vet said his teeth looked fantastic except for one spot of tartar, but he no longer needed a dental. It works!

18:52 - in self-feeding studies, cats prefer more carbs than dogs do. Dogs prefer fats over carbs. There are many news articles about this self-feeding study. Not sure how she squares this one.

6:38 - yet the raw diet people claim the muscle tissues and bones in chicken necks or turley necks remove plaque, but she can't conceputalize you can drsign kibbles to do the same (I fed my dogs raw lamb bones and turkey necks until one of the dogs broke his molar on a lamb bone)

Glenn - we’ve tried quite a few dog foods for our 2 year old mini bernedoodle but switched to hills regular adult 3 weeks ago. Our dogs fur seems to be much softer now than before the food change. Something in hills SD that is contributing to that? Just curious

I've shared this story here before. I adopted a cat from the animal shelter in April 2023. Her teeth were quite bad, even though she was very young. The vet recommended a dental diet so I started feeding her SD Oral Care kibble. She had to go back to the vet for her vaccines in April and I explained to the vet what I am feeding her and why and she was so impressed, saying that her teeth now look great. This is the only food my cats now get and they love it. They are very healthy and have very soft coats.

The thing i wonder is, why Hill's are using oxide form for the added minerals, when it is with worst bioavailability ? For a premium brand i think the additives should be better, when every macronutrient is almost at minimum :/

And legally, youre required to inform buyers whether or not the product might be contaminated. Pet food manufacturers are not required to put such disclaimers nor seal of approval

2 months on homeade. 12 year old chihuahua is running around the house. Great body weight. She plays like her old self again. Goes on jogs with me again. Puppy never tires tho. Might be too healthy for her!

@PetFoodPuzzleGuy Well, I found what I believe will be the perfect canned dog food for our dog. I'm sorry I put you through seeing me whining and desperate for you to help me select a wet canned dog food by your reviews. Forget the Iams numbers. Soooo, I selected and have already placed an order through Chewy for "Hills Science Diet Adult Beef and Barley Entree" since our dog is 3 years old. Staff at Hills couldn't have been more helpful and went through all the "numbers" with me and even though I didn't have the numbers range chart, I am trusting in him. I pray our dog loves this food and I know he'll be in better condition on this Science Diet formula. Thank you, Glenn, again for trying to help me. Sandy (Oh, and they're working on all of their canned foods to be pop-top, it literally is in the works)!

YT won't let me reply, but will allow a comment. Geesh. To the person who said taurine is found in many foods, not just meat. Wrong. Taurine is only produced in animal muscle meat. No where else.

As much as I would like anyone with pet nutrition expertise to help me select a decent wet canned dog food, this person I think would near the bottom of me listening to her advice. My own Vet told me to check with an animal hospital in Kansas City, MO and see if they'll help me! Well, okay then!
