I’m a huge fan of Jamie Mac. There is no question, Chevrolet was trash last year, for almost the full year. But he honestly didn’t drive that well either. You can’t put the entire blame on the Camaro.

Quentin MF'ing Tarantino Jamie showed some flashes of speed (Las Vegas) but overall, as you said, he wasn’t very good. 2017 was probably the best year for him at Gannasi.

Kurt Busch was the first car to wreck in a race in 2017, McMurray was the first car to wreck in a race in 2018, Kurt Busch is going to the 1 car next year, the same number McMurray used to drive.

Basically everyone in Chevy had one of their worst seasons in 2018. Johnson, Newman, Ty Dillon (I know it’s his second season but he had a tumultuous year compared to his rookie season), Larson, Allmendinger, etc, etc.

Well, if Kurt Busch has a productive 2019, then that will prove that Ganassi's Equipment isn't where the problem is with McMurray (or even Larson...)

I wouldn't bring Larson into that. Even with the camaros being terrible early on, Larson still ran consistently top 10, and pretty easily made the chase. It was a definite step down from 2017, but it was a few steps up from McFlurry too. I'd say it was 30% manufacturer, 20% Ganassi Equipment, and 50% McMurray being McMurray.

I think Kurt will have a better season than McMurray did because of better cars. Ganassi had better cars throughout the year so next year will be way better. Plus at the end of the season they were exploring for 2019 so they will have better cars for 2019.

Whenever I hear this song one of the first things that pop into my head is NASCAR Thunder 2004 and McMurrays 42 Havoline Car. Awesome pick with the music and I’m glad you picked up how when he has a good season the next is never up to par.

I'm not gonna put this totally on McMurray. Chevies in general were pretty bad early on. Only one who could run top 10 consistently was Larson, and even he couldn't maintain any more than that. Hendrick, especially Elliott, figured it out in the latter half of the year, but Ganassi never did. Once Hendrick started running decent, Larson dropped from a top 10 car to more a top 15 car. McFlurry isn't blameless either. Like you said, he did this every other year.

Sad to see my fav driver go out after a really bad season. Even tho he’s supposedly running the 2019 500 I’m not very excited for the 2019 season. Guess it frees up my Sunday’s lol

Kinda a shame really. A very likeable person. Almost similar to Kasey Kahne's career; Started off with a bang and looked like they were going to potentially be the next hotshot young flag bearers of the sport with many wins and championships, but just never materialized. When the cards DID line up for him, he proved his worth (2007 Pepsi 400, 2010 Daytona 500, 2010 Brickyard 400). But sadly the cards lining up was more few and far between than others. Another low-key name that was around during NASCAR's boom that I miss hearing and seeing every Sunday. Great video :]

As a McMurray fan, this season was horrible but nowhere as bad as 2006. I feel like that would have been the more appropriate video, although I understand the recency bias. This season was dogshit.

It sucks he always followed up good or okay seasons with bad ones since he was such a nice guy off the track and with the fans. Plus he is also a very talented driver with a lot of historic wins to his name. Hopefully his final MENCS Start in the 2019 Daytona 500 goes better then 2018 went for him.

Macmurray has talent , i think its the mental toughness he lacks . Ill always remember his past on the outside of turn 1 at the brickyard and won , hes talented , too bad it never came together even in good rides , a good dude

It was difficult to watch him struggle like he did, Jamie MacMurray still has the 2010 three win season, but he also has really abysmal stretches during his career, but this year was rough for Chevy overall. Not sure how much better Kurt Busch will be over there.

Jamie just was never that consistent. Not to mention it didn't help that he switched teams. Had he stayed with Chip after the 2005 season, I think he'd have been better off.

McMurray was really good in 2014 2:43 he hit the wall just like the year before except this time in 1 and 2 His best race this year was definitely Las Vegas, he was running in the top 5 to top 3

its sad that the most interesting thing about mcmurray's last season is that hes being replaced by kurt bush and if he will do better than kyle Larson or not next season so we can all see just how good chip ganassi equipment is. he had so much promise winning in his 2nd race but was just a dud his entire career after that. song is nothing scared by memento. it was also on nascar thunder 2004. great song and great game. you should really start putting the names of songs in the description.

Apparently his rear view mirror fell off with a couple laps to go, so he let Blaney by to have some clear track for the finish. Jamie would’ve won the race.

McMurtry was a weapon in 2018. He was aggressive from what I remember and it hardly ever went his way.

I like Jamie and he had a really nice beginning part of his career. He reminded me a lot of a Terry Labonte or Ricky Rudd type of driver who wouldn't win a ton of races but excel on tougher racetracks. I always kind of wanted him in that #2 instead of Kurt Busch if roles were reversed again and Kurt had not gotten in trouble with his legal issues. But later he became too much of a tease and have a recurring pattern of good years and then a bad one.

Jamie McMurray was my favorite driver for a long time but since 2011 he has been mediocre at best and it sucks to see that since I was a big Nascar fan when he had multiple wins in a season, now he couldn't buy himself a top 10 finish.

I’ll be honest. I think Jamie intentionally blew that motor at Darlington. He started in the back and drove all the way to the 8th-11th and finished 9th. I was a Jamie Mac fan and it wasn’t easy. He had some years (2004, 2010, and 2017) where it looked like he was gonna do something, but just wasn’t there. His Roush years were pretty ugly.
