Hi Ruby Rose…. As long term live aboards and retired Superyacht captain, new build project manager, little trick about the shade cloth on windshield….. Fasten them on the INSIDE! That way, they don’t get dirty, salty and easy to remove underway….. If you do decide to take delivery in Asia, we are based in the Philippines…..let us know… so much to see in the coral triangle

Although I am curious about boat construction, what really drew me to your earlier videos was the beautiful relationship between the two of you and having two mature persons sharing their life together. Perhaps you can dedicate part of each episode to more of that.

Terese is in Australia doing all the editing and not in Vietnam right now. That is why we aren't seeing that part of it. I don't know if it is because of Visa issues or family or just more comfortable. It could also be that she is dealing with some business things in Australia that would be harder to do from Vietnam.

On the large commercial cats travelling back and forth from the QLD islands the crews used RainX on the forward windows to keep the screens clear of rain and spray. A simple but effective solution to the issue of poor visibility from spray and rain.

Thanks Nick for the update. Not sure of time lines, but Riley and Elayna from La Vagabonde have just rolled into your town to video the end of the build on their boat. Their factory is a bit south of yours, but they appear to be living in HCMC. Many thanks for your work and channel.

Nick, Great episode and update. We can really see the boat resembling a finished project. For the record: had you deleted the part where the panel fell over, we would have all been less for the wise and not tried to shout at you and reached out to try and catch it...Smile.. I am starting to get excited to see the final build now. I think I would go red sea route for the diving and snorkelling but the cape would be amazing, all those east African coasts.

Nick, at 5:50 I think you almost got yourself booted off the Hull #1 build! The way you described it, it does make sense to ship to the Med and take delivery there. Additionally, it would give the two of you a chance to get used to the quirks of YOUR Seawind on a (relatively) calmer body of water than the South China Sea or Indian Ocean.

If they pick up RR2 in the Med, is it put on a ship and sent there or does someone sail it there? The company that we take catamaran cruises with on Maui has their new boats built in the Caribbean and then their crews sail them back to Maui.

Dominic had a good question about visibility and the answer was a bit surprising, Nick. I can see you doing standing watch on the rail (with some foul weather gear which you didn't have on the Island Spirit) once or twice over the next 12 years. It will be interesting to see how often such a situation arises. You should have great visibility from the cockpit 99.87346 percent of the time. That figure is the product of super high end computations - LOL.

Nick I don’t know if you have had time, but did you see the HH 55’ that Niki & Jason from “Gone with the Wynn’s” were on for a bit? If so, what did you think of the design/layout of that boat in comparison to the 1370?

Why have cameras not been used to increase visibility from the helm stations? I have often thought of even a drop down camera in the water for spotting coral heads or a mast camera that would give you good view for going under bridges. I'm I just being overly silly in my thoughts or is it just a money thing? Any thoughts?

Talking of visibility issues why is it that very few makes of catamaran have windscreen wipers ?

How many cats have glass as opposed to Perspex screens most motor type yachts seem to have glass and they all seem to have wipers .

Totally agree on that he helm position, most he protected…rain in Asia … zero visibility it’s sometimes worse then fog…. Luckily in busy waters like Singapore you can trust every one to have ais … just plan well ahead as the rain never lasts long

Is the delay between hull 1 and 2 strictly for fit & finish or will Seawind do a test sail on Hull 1 before carrying on with hull 2 build in order to make sure everything is good? Like to see more about what you do at night. Can't just be editing video.

Hi mate....looks like things are progressing, but v. slowly....they are pushing the design/technology envelop.....so could argue they are doing ok but delivery is going to be well past initial forecast so wonder how those who have placed orders down the line are going to feel.....I see possible cancelled orders here? Incidentslly have you changed your teeth look a bit like romainian tombstones......but incredibly white......ooops so sorry.....didn't mean to be rude.....seriously was this done in UK

Here is a question I have. After analyzing Sailing Ruby Rose KZfaq Statistics and more importantly the major decline in the views, downward trend in subscribers, etc. Was it really smart to give up on sailing while this vessel is being built? I see less advertising in the videos, less tags of the videos, etc. So I have to believe that this venture has hurt your brand and cost you major revenues. I personally think it would have been smarter to continue sailing while (whilst) the new vessel is being built. I find boat work videos interesting, informative and helpful in many ways, however boat build update videos are really not and you will probably continue to show them for another year. I think by that time people (subscribers) will have moved onto channels like Ran Sailing, KnotFinnishedYet, Learning By Doing and a host of others. L loved the early Ruby Rose content, tapping out on this content.

Honestly we knew this would not be as interesting to many people. We thought seriously about carrying on sailing to keep viewership up…………. However, we chose this pathway as we are happier living the life that we want and not the lives that give us the most viewers. For us, it’s not about the biggest channel or clickbait, it’s about deciding to live our lives as we wish and allowing people to see our choices. Fair winds my friend. Maybe you’ll return when we are sailing again

I find watching boat building as much interesting as sailing videos Currently most sailing channels I follow don’t sail currently All are waiting for a new boat to be build,or building themselves (RAN, YABA) or currently refitting a boat

@@gingin21jr I do not disagree that some channels are currently in the midst of building a boat. However, they are doing the building. I follow Ran sailing because there is truly something to learn and (Unfortunately True) voyeuristically be a part of. Please note that I think Ruby Rose is a great sailing channel, I learned a lot from the early videos. The current videos just seem to lack that content connection for me, and many others apparently, that makes you feel like you are rooting for the underdog to overcome their next challenge. I will most likely return in the future when the adventure of using, maintaining and learning the boat returns. By the way, I am not simply just a "Watcher", I own my own 45 foot sailboat and have sailed for years. So I watch with a different eye and mindset, thus it most likely my issue right now. I just cannot relate the content to where I am currently at in my sailing process.
