I believe they explained earlier that anyone who is trapped inside a Palace when it is destroyed will die, the only thing that returns to the Mementos Depths is the Palace’s ruler. As for the “Ryuji coming to the rescue” when they fight the Grail for the first time pitch, it’s a terrible idea. He has his moment later but the Grail is the combined power of the public’s collective unconscious so adding another PT into the fray wouldn’t make a difference since it’s still technically a group of teenagers against a being who has gained godlike powers and the combined strengths of the millions if not billions of people who unknowingly helped create it, the PTs initial struggle was always destined to fail with or without the “Ryuji coming in for the save” idea.

The thing is, it's a joke, even though in poor taste. Anime always has mad women being able to beat up or scare strong male characters, like Luffy or Goku. But Nami can't really leave Luffy a scrambled heap against his will. It's like playing along. So when Ryuji is left lying, it's a joke.

To be fair, they're essentially childhood friends who drifted apart before reconnecting over Kamoshida's BS & abuse. Ann & Ryuji know each other better than anyone else on the team (this is why, if Joker doesn't romance Ann, my "head canon" is that Ann & Ryuji eventually become a couple, especially since Ann knows perfectly well that while he's not the brightest bulb in the chandelier, his heart is always in the right place and she can _always_ rely him to be there for her whenever she _really_ needs him, and she knows that she can 100% trust him to never take advantage of her....look at how she actually laughs at Ryuji being a "goof" when he sees the girls in swimsuits when they all go to the beach together, we all know if it had been anyone outside of the group doing that towards her, she'd have gotten royally pissed off). Ann may be one of the first to call out Ryuji for being an idiot at times, but she's also often the one who worries about him the most (just look at her in this scene, she's literally "ugly crying" because she thinks he'd actually died, which shows just how much she truly cares about him). Though honestly, I always get pissed at the girls here for how they reacted to Ryuji showing up alive and well. The guy literally risked his life and _almost died_ just so the rest of them could escape in one piece, and yet at the discovery that he survived and is okay, they _hit_ and _yell_ at him for worrying/scaring them? He didn't deserve that in the slightest! He deserved one hell of a "thank you" and a big hug for the risk he took for their sakes, but instead he gets beat up by the girls and then the entire group leaves without him? If I were there myself when that happened, I would have verbally torn the girls apart for that. You want to get mad at Ryuji for being dumb or screwing things up, that's one thing, as in that case he'd absolutely have it coming, but getting mad at him for _SAVING YOUR LIVES AT THE RISK OF HIS OWN_ is _really_ messed up in my eyes. But maybe my brain just works differently since I'm a guy, who knows? :P

Persona 3 killed many characters tho, including the casts in the main player's team.

The Devil Survivor games, which were made by the same company as Persona, would kill your party members if you didn't see the events needed to save them or if you failed the fight where they were supposed to die. *Spoiler Depending on the ending you choose, you'll have to fight some or all of your party members, so there was a strategy to let some of them die early on so you wouldn't fight them at the end.

This is one of the few things the bad anime adaptation did right, as all the girls did there was just yell at him.

It's particularly in bad taste considering Ryuji already has two cases of being a physical abuse victim: one with his alcoholic father, and again with Kamoshida. Using him as a punching bag just doesn't sit right with me, even if he did something to deserve their ire. I hate how the game quickly forgets how Ryuji has one of the most messed up pasts among the Phantom Thieves. The other PTs have deep emotional scars, but only Skull has a physical reminder of what was taken from him on top of that.

@@lemao2222Persona 4 and 5 tend to be a lot of the comedy undercutting itself. So much of the stuff that happens to male teammates is very much not deserved, but there for comedy.

He said that Ann's crying face is not cute. Which comes off as an insult that the girls cried because they thought he was dead. I'm not defending the girls but Ryuji was out of line for that one.

It's one thing to experience emotional frustration at a person for them not acting the way you wanted them to and quite another to become emotionally attached to the comments section as if anyone asked. Don't let Albert play the OG, (not Royal) Persona 5. It would break them given their reaction to this harmless playthrough.
