A low mileage Bafang m620 motor that was getting very loud. We addressed the issue, cracked the case open and we’re surprised to see very little grease inside the case. If your Bafang motor is getting loud you might want to check it for proper grease amounts. What is the proper amount? More than what this one came with. Thanks for watching. Any questions just comment. Thank you

It’s fairly easy. Just take your time, try not to strip anything while removing the hardware. I’ve had some bikes that have had very stubborn or over tightened parts to where we had to use air impact tools to remove that sprocket ring nut😬 This bike everything went very straight foreword and smooth.

That would be nice. I did get my bike free from Storm, I used to send my videos to one of their social media personnel and they we’re going to use parts they wanted from my videos on different platforms, I honestly don’t know whatever happened to it.

awesome video once again Doug! I'm going to try and grease mine this month, it's a bit colder up here in Canada at this time so now is a good chance to take it apart, it's definitely a loud motor so hopefully this helps with the noise too

I work at a bike shop where we install BBS02's all the time and we got to the point where we just automatically open it up and grease it because apparently the bafang factory can't afford enough grease or something.

They did give me my bike. So they sorta did “sponsor me” at first. I would send them footage of all my videos in the beginning and they would use what they wanted from my videos. I don’t know if they used the footage or what happened?

Hi Doug,, 3:08 why did you replace this main gear? was there something broken in the internal clutch. Just curious, when I opened, cleaned and regreased my M620 I thought there could be a problem since everything was so dry inside (and loud).. Thanks for all your vids.
@SimplePleasuresMTB
@SimplePleasuresMTB Жыл бұрын
We had first thought the loud noise was due to the rotor gear being worn out as I’ve seen on other motors, this motor is fairly new with low miles, but the owner went ahead an ordered the gears (just in case) the rotor needed replacement. After inspection we decided it was fine, no wear that we could see or feel. Just because we had the replacement third gear and it was easy to drop in, we decided to just use it. Thanks for watching.

From what i've read, cornhead grease is semi- fluid - it flows when it gets warm. meant for sealed gear boxes. with the small amount you put on, I have a feeling it will all drip off once the motor gets warm/hot and/or fling it all off - is the motor sealed enough to fill it about 15-20% full to ensure the gears get a grease bath?
@SimplePleasuresMTB
@SimplePleasuresMTB Жыл бұрын
Yes, that was my idea. The grease that comes in it is heavy and basically sticks to the case and never gets back on the surface of the gears. I could have used more, but so far it’s smooth and running good. The HPI on Cornhead is 1, like you said, when warm it goes to a semi liquid state, then back to solid as it cools.
@rickc2222
@rickc2222 Жыл бұрын
@@SimplePleasuresMTB yes but what im saying is with so little of it in there, it will flow to the bottom of the motor and starve the gears of lube - so you kind of need to treat it more like an oil bath because it flows to the bottom of motor...a bit more and it might be sufficient.... would be interesting to see where the grease is sitting after a season of riding- or even a dozen rides or so...
@SimplePleasuresMTB
@SimplePleasuresMTB Жыл бұрын
@@rickc2222 yeah I might do that in a future video. I’m curious too. I put an external temp gauge on the motor itself and it hasn’t even came close to the lowest temperature on the the gauge (80F). Even on a warm day.

I put about 1000 on my first motor and after about seven months it started getting embarrassingly loud. I sent Sondors a video to show how loud it was and they sent me a box to send them the bike. They agreed it was too loud and put a brand new motor on it. So, this is my new motor. It only had about 300 miles on it and again, started to get too loud. This was the fix. Feels and sound MUCH better now.
