New for 2022 are ASI controller upgrade kits for the Bafang Ultra (G510 / M620) & Lightning Rods motors. Joining the BBSHD and BBS02 motors are two new upgrade kits.
The Bafang Ultra kit will use the ASI BAC855 controller and the Lightning Rods motors will utilize the more powerful BAC2000, BAC4000 and BAC8000 depending on the size of motor.

I’m restoring/modifying a 2012 Zero Xu, and it sounds like the Big Block XXL might be a great option for powering it. Approximately how soon do you expect to start making them available for sale?

They are going into bench testing in a week or so. In the meantime you can join our discord platform and chat to Lighting Rods directly. You can also email Lighting Rods via the form on the website under the links in the description. High Voltage is supplying controllers packages to make it run. The drives themselves are direct from Lightning Rods. I am sure he would be happy to make one available as soon as possible. Hope this helps. Cheers

Exciting. This comes just after receiving a new stock controller (shorted my old one poking around), so if I never figure out how to recalibrate the motor to the controller I'll have a second option! UART protocol, if you can help xd

@@HighVoltageKits Finally solved my last hurdle! I had not realised I needed to flip the Tx/Rx when connecting to the display versus connecting to the motor! It's too cold, dark and wet to test it outside now, but there's hope.

If you're curious, I have a hex file to upload to C961 display which will give it the functionality to run a recalibration. This is at least for 48V.. I don't see why it would work on a 52V model either

I’m looking to upgrade from an M600 to the M620 do you know if that is doable like is the bracket/ mounting holes the same? Thanks in advance! 🤘🏼

As far as I am aware they are different sizes. The 600 being more compact. You would likely need to significantly modify the frame if it is in fact possible. You might be able to lo are a 3d model of the 620 to compare it?

What could I expect to pay for a bac2000 vs a bac4000? I feel like the bac2000 might be substantial enough if it's cheaper it could be a good choice...

I'm not posting prices at this stage. You can get in touch with the High Voltage team via discord to get a rough idea. The BAC4000 I think is about 2/3 more expensive.

I'll keep people posted on that. The mounts are polycarbonate right now to want to see how they are and refine. But a wider testing group for sure. Be happy to have you along for the ride.

Frey use this I think. I'm not sure it will match the BAC855 tho.

Does the BAC855 work properly with the G510/M620? No stuttering issues etc? Does it run sensorless?

It runs it sensorless. We have a kit in progress that will run it with halls. It will also run the torque sensing but that is a bit more tricky with interference. The can bus version the halls work but the torque sensor reverts to simple cadence pas as they locked out the torque part with a can bus chip. There have been a few examples of sensorless about tho.

How much watts will this kit produce on 52V battery on the BBSHD?

2800-3000 is usually the peak for a 52 volt battery. 4000 is possible at 72 volts

YES.YES.YES,I want more ..just a little problem. All that power John goes to the rear wheel,could you possibly make à chain out of titanium as I am on my 5th chain,due to my heavy chassis and a heavy fatbike I want to keep the 8 speed gearing and the 34 tooth Sprocket...what's the thickest chain I could use without screwing up the shimano acura?? I would love to have s single speed but the big steep hill in front of the house has a very steep incline...anyway great 👍 Video,will post a rebuild of a reention battery pack soon on high voltage ⚡, HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL THE GANG AND KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK..Submarine 👍..

No its not an NDA thing. Its so I am able to chat as the video plays and answer questions people have. The High Voltage team will be around for the first hour or so. I don't usually do this premier thing. But this is pretty big news for us.

We are working on a kit. Its been delayed due to the availability of controllers. Should have some more info on the channel soon. In the meantime we are dialing everything in so its as seamless as possible for folks looking to use it.

The Lightning Rods motors are for everything from Tube frame fatbikes to enduro style frames like the Stealth bomber style. The Bafang Ultra is widely used by many companies to make ebikes like Frey and Bike Trix.

We never quite got it to the point where it was easy plug and play for 99% of people. Its not written off yet but I don't really have an update either.

It will be for the 1.5 and CANBUS variations which I think is the same thing.

Yes, we recently made some changes to allow the kit to work on all versions of Ultra including v1.0 (UART w/ classic halls), v1.5 (UART) & v2.0 (CAN-Bus) - Mike (HV Team)
