The movie is "Out of Life," or "Hors la Vie," a French film from 1991. It's inspired by the real experience of Roger Auque. Loosely inspired. In reality, Auque was masquerading as a French journalist in Lebanon while spying for the Israeli government. He was caught and held prisoner for 10 months in 1987 before the French government negotiated for his release.

This is actually based on a true story of the Kidnapping of Terry Waite. Its a TV documentry drama film...... Put into KZfaq... Colin Firth in Rare Forgotten TV Film 'Hostages' (1993)/Part 1 it runs from 1 to 4.

pretty crazy scene for a movie. this version's quality isn't great (the one on Netflix is though) and the lighting is pretty bad so it's hard to make out the details. but i don't think that type of tape is very strong. there's some scenes afterwards where he's in a strange, isolated room and he's talking through the gag. i'm pretty sure he sweat it off his mouth. also, it's bizarre that they taped his nose only to remove it later. i think they did that for dramatic effect and to "punish" him in the context of the movie for trying to escape. but this mummification pretty much is just that along with humiliation and more mental torture. someone else noted here that this clip is from another TV movie called Hostages. while that is incorrect, there are some interesting parallels like men being taped up with that brown tape as mummies and transported under trucks.
