Fr. Greg and Daniel have a good 'ol' conversation about organization preferences for their board games. Board game inserts? How many baggies do you use? What is your favourite way o store your board games? Let us know, down below!

Father Greg is right, everything each player needs to start the game should be in one baggie or container so you can just give them the bag after they pick their color and you don’t need to mess with the other colors that no one is playing with. Doing God’s work!

Haha I do think this is ultimately ideal. I just don’t mind doing some separating during set up, if I have to.

@@PunchboardParty Well at least you're not as insane as Eric Martin from BGG - he bags nothing, no inserts, no nothing - just dumps everything in the box with no organization. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/g9Chopuap7iyqGQ.html

Love a good insert (PARKS’ is heavenly!). Extra baggies throw me off every time, but the worst is no not having enough and having to rely on sandwich bags!

Hilarious - I also have a large ziploc bag full of other baggies of varying sizes. My m.o. for unboxing / punching out a new game is to grab my pocket knife and my “baggie” bag and see what’s up. Inevitably I end up swapping out larger bags for smaller ones. It brings my great joy when I find a use for larger bags. It would be nice if an “organization” page was included at the end of the manual detailed the optimal approach for packing the game away.

Baggies are great for player pieces and tiles that I want separated. My favorite storage solution are those small lidded plastic tubs that DollarTree sells in 10 count sets.the rectangle ones are easiest to fit in the game box. I love these, because you take them out , open them and everything is ready and organized on the table in less than a minute! I have purchased slightly larger ones that come 4 to a set occasionally if the regular ones are too small. I usually get everything to fit, and I rarely have to toss the factory insert either. 😃

You can fit one of these containers in with the insert! This is an intriguing notion. I like the idea of having everything all set and ready to go in the box :)

I bought the Troyes insert and Boy Oh Boy! What a difference!!! I used to scoff at inserts as being a waste of money. But they REALLY make setting up and tearing down a game sooo much faster and easier. I'm a believer now! They REALLY help bring games to the table more often.

Oh man, I hate baggies in games as a general rule. I love a well designed insert where I can just pull it out, set it on the table and go. Favorites are Game Trayz, Game Foundry, and Folded Space. I've also made my own designed foam core inserts for The Grand Carnival.

I hate baggies! Early on in my board gaming hobby I stumbled across a post on bgg featuring someone's custom foam core insert and I was inspired to create my own. Since 2017, I have created close to 50 foam core inserts for my games and friends games. They are created to make setup easier, store vertically, and contain all expansions in the base box. There are times I enjoy making an insert more than I do playing that game 😊

I think I've removed maybe one insert. Unless it's a really good insert, I would much rather it be sent with lots of baggies and then I don't have to go through the struggle of deciding on whether or not to keep the insert. And you have to put each colour in a seperate bag so it's all neat and organized.

Yeah baggies with inserts works pretty well. Haha ok I am getting quite a bit of grief for not separating colours 😂

I actually enjoy organizing my games. My goal is to make setup as quick as it can. I do this because I play a lot of solo games, and I know that a long setup is big mental hurdle for me, and I just won't play the game. I often using clear deck boxes (Burger Tokens are the best value) and small plastic containers (Dollar Tree 10 for $1.25) for organizing as long as they all fit in the box. The insert usually gets tossed, but I hate throwing away boxes for expansions when I combine boxes; I currently have a 5 foot tall stack by my game table....

So I love organizing everything in little baggies HOWEVER, I love a good insert. I bought a 3D printer partially to print custom inserts/game trays. As long as setting up and packing up after play is fairly easy, I'm flexible. (I too keep replaced inserts and expansion boxes!!!)

I see this a lot, but I struggle with the idea of going out and spending money on organization rather than new games :) Unless I had tackle boxes lying around, which unfortunately I do not :)

nothing beats a good professional foam insert made specially for the game. I bought my first one recently for Troyes and BOY! What a difference! They really breathe new life into your games because some games are such a hassle to setup and tear down that it takes some of the fun away. Especially if, like me, you like to play board games at cafes.

Primarily, I use baggies for most everything and toss the insert. However, I have found that vinyl non adhesive tape (Hugo's Amazing Tape) works fantastically for cards if I do want to keep the insert. I still bag other components and put them in the wells of the insert.
@PunchboardParty
@PunchboardParty Жыл бұрын
How does the tape work with the cards? Run a strip over the card slot??
@Nubbins86
@Nubbins86 Жыл бұрын
The tape is, well, amazing! It only sticks to itself and doesn't damage cards at all. Much better than rubber bands. I measure out a strip of tape and wrap the deck in it. And the tape is thin enough that it still fits in the card wells.

My box organization style mostly centers around setup. When I first organize the box, if I haven’t played the game I try to at least learn enough about setup and maybe some gameplay to organize. My ideal would be if every game had a wonderfully organized insert with lids that was just how I liked, but that almost never happens. (Parks is the only one that comes to mind). Since this isn’t the case, I mostly make sure that each player can start with a bag or box of what they need to set themselves up. (I try to even have any starting resources and such in their bags, stuff like that). Then any cards that do separate things or will be in different piles will be sorted as such. Though I am one of those horrible people that uses rubber bands. I’ve never had a problem, I’m careful, but I understand that’s a cardinal sin to some people. Lol. Then resources and what not, I’ll do separate bags if I need to, but my ideal is little containers so they can just be opened and set up. I try to keep a decent stock of dollar store containers in small sizes. And I guess that’s pretty much it. I do label bags on occasion when I think it’ll matter to setup. So stuff like expansions, so they don’t have to be mixed in.
@nataliejohn4243
@nataliejohn4243 Жыл бұрын
Oh and I do discard inserts if they don’t for my organization style, if things fit better without or, and expecting when I can fit a game + expansion(s) once it’s discarded. I’m all about less boxes.

Baggies are the worst for setting up and tearing down. It takes way too long to open all the bags and pour things out on the table. I much prefer well done organizers where you can just put trays out on the table, hand out player trays and get started. I pretty much bought a 3d printer just to design my own inserts that help speed up setup and tear down.

And the reason I label my bags is because sometimes I get to the end of putting things away and I have larger components left and only a small bags…meaning I missed the bag that the larger components were suppose to go into. Once you label…this problem goes away.
