I learned to shoot with my grandfather's 1873 L.C. Smith, I still have it but have retired it to the rack several years ago. So it obviously had to be replaced with a double trigger "Baikal" side by side in a 12 ga. I can truly say that the Baikal has never let me down. Now I realize that there are going to be folks that don't agree with me for one reason or another. None the less even though it is considered a coach gun, I have used it to take Dove and Quail. Tomorrow it goes to the range with me to see how it does with rifled slugs at 50 yards. I do feel confident with this little side by side, it is all that you describe in yours, however mine cost me about $225.00. Enjoy your day and stay safe!

Hi David, no there's nothing at all wrong with a low cost firearm. This Baikal shotgun and indeed all the other rifles I've seen for sale at various dealers here in Canada seem to be 'just the ticket' for folks who want to enjoy a bit of shooting sport. My choice of shotgun gauge , ( or bore, as our U.K. friends like to refer to them as ) is 20. At present I have just bought a single shot break barrel shotgun that is made in Turkey. I also have a beautiful walnut stock .410 , made by New England , what a shame these are not made anymore either. Main thing is , no matter what the cost , we all should enjoy the guns we have, and enjoy the sport too. Thanks for showing us these two.

The Baikal is the best of the cheap guns. Low cost but good quality. I have one now and have owned about a dozen Baikal’s over the years and they’ve been excellent quality for the price. You can spend a lot more but you won’t get a lot more.
