Baja Fish Taco Recipe with Homemade Guacamole

------ FOR THE FISH ------
➖ 1 1/2-2 lb cod fillets
➖ 2 cups all-purpose flour
➖ 1 teaspoon chili powder
➖ 1 teaspoon garlic powder
➖ 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
➖ 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
➖ 16 oz beer
➖ Oil for deep frying vegetable, canola, or corn oil work
------ CABBAGE SLAW ------
➖ 1/2 purple cabbage
➖ 1/4 cup cilantro
➖ 1 carrot shredded
➖ 1 1/2 tablespoons honey
➖ Juice of 1 lime
➖ 2 tablespoons red onion diced
------ BAJA CREAM SAUCE ------
➖ 1/2 cup sour cream
➖ 1/2 cup mayonnaise
➖ 1 tablespoon honey
➖ 1/2 clove garlic
➖ Juice of 1/2 lime
➖ 1 chipotle pepper in adobo sauce finely chopped
➖ 1 teaspoon salt
➖ 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
➖ Corn or flour tortillas for serving

Reminds me of surfing Mexico in the 70's, we would always stop at this little shack outside Ensenada next to the Pemex station, brings back alot of memories, I'll be making some later with the Mahi I caught yesterday. Thanks

No, that batter is very wet and will drip off. It has to be fried quickly. I hope you get a chance to try this recipe :)

Hi :) I know that some people use club soda as an alternative. The carbonation helps with getting your fish crispy. However, I have not tried using club soda for this recipe so I am not sure how it will taste and turn out. Let me know how it goes if you give it a try :)

can I air fry the cod instead?

Hi Mira :) No unfortunately you can't air fry the cod for this recipe. The batter needs instant high heat. If you try to place it in an air fryer the batter will just drip off before it can crisp up. Hope that helps and I hope you get a chance to make this fish taco recipe!
