You made that a lot more difficult than it needs to be. So through the eye first and then tie the knot the same. Been doing it forever. Same knot, less drama.

this is the same knot that is used to construct store bought dropper riggs and been used forever. i've heard it and saw it listed as the no-name knot. been using it for alot of years doing rigging

After you pull the hook through the first loop, and before you do any knot tightening, you can decrease the loop side by gently pulling back on the standing line. You use a LOT less tag end mono.

lol, man you made the perfection loop the most difficult knot I've ever seen. you don't need a 3rd loop, you bring the line over in between the 2 loops and pull on the tag end, simple

I'm hoping this knot is the answer to all my problems. I've tried the non-slip mono loop a bunch of times, but I've broken off when using 5x or thinner tippet on decent fish. Thick tippets, no prob. I've come to the conclusion this loop knot is inferior to any sung knot but becomes exponentially inferior with light tippets. But here's the problem: once you use a loop knot to tie on a size 20-22 midge, and once you see how that lil' midge dangles so freely at the end of the tippet when you wiggle it, you NEVER want to go back to using sung knots again, with some exceptions. In other words, after you've witnessed the joys of the loop knot, any fly tied to the end of a snug knot feels like you're going to present your fly in a block of ice to the fish. It's just like the saying (which sucks), "Once you go black..." Well, how about, "Once you go loop, the rest seem like poop." Is this knot strong when using light tippets? Or, is it going to break on me again? I can't stand it anymore.
