BAKED BEAN CASSEROLE 1 Vidalia Onion 1 Red Bell Pepper 1 lb Thick Cut Bacon 1 lb Ground Beef 3 Cloves of Garlic 1/2 Tablespoon Cajun or Creole Seasoning 4 (15oz) Cans Pork & Beans in tomato sauce 1/2 Cup Dark Molasses 1/4 Cup Light Brown Sugar 1/4 Cup BBQ Sauce 2 Tablespoons of Mustard Start out by heating large pan over a Medium heat. Chop the onion and red bell pepper, then set aside. Sear the bacon in the large pan to almost crispy, and then remove to a plate layered with paper towels. Be sure to leave the drippings in the pan. Add the chopped vegetables to the pan, and sauté for 15 minutes. While the vegetables are sautéing, chop the 3 cloves of garlic and the bacon. After 15 minutes, add the chopped garlic, ground beef, and Cajun seasoning to the pan. Sauté for another 15 minutes, drain into a strainer, then add back to pan. Add in the bacon, pork & beans, molasses, brown sugar, BBQ sauce, and mustard. Mix Well. Cover and Lower to a simmering heat. Let simmer for 30 Minutes, stirring occasionally. At this time preheat your oven to 350 degrees. After 30 minutes, turn your fire off, and pour the contents of the pan into a large baking dish. Bake in the over for 50 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool for 5-10 minutes before serving. Enjoy!

My mom use to make this..she would let it bake for a bit and THEN would put biscuits from the can on top and let them bake on top. It would be a meal in itself.

That's is about as good as it gets. You can go fancier like using chopped smoke brisket instead of ground beef or layer the top with bacon but more time and effort for little gain.

What is the purpose of sautéing it and backing it?
@TheCajunNinja6 жыл бұрын
Sylvia Alvarado sautéing it will allow all the flavors to blend. Baking it uncovered evaporates water, allowing the dish to thicken. 😊👍🏻

The Cajun Ninja, good point !!! But the numbers matter in the KZfaq universe, as you well know. Keep it up. Maybe our paths will cross sometime.

The Easy Cajun I don’t worry about the KZfaq Universe. 😏 The thing about numbers is, they never end. If you chase numbers, you’ll never be satisfied. Just care about putting out content that you genuinely enjoy, and the right people will find you. 😊👊🏻
