Leaving Cleveland was the best thing that could have happened to him, Its a QB killing organization. This man woke up the Browns from a 1-31 2 year record to the playoffs and a win. And they gave him 4 head coaches, 3 O-Cordinaters and 2 GMs to deal with. No QB could win in that system, Baker fan here, Good luck Baker.

Yep. And I find it funny that fans saying we should have drafted Josh Allen. With how raw Josh was he’d be out of the league in two years if he was drafted to Cleveland. Not to mention browns buckeye fans turned on him when he got injured because they literally always hated him.

my2cent3, you NAILED this take!!! I'll never understand why so many people choose to ignore the crazy circumstances Baker was expected to shine in. And it didn't help that his supposed mentor was TYROD TAYLOR! Baker STILL hasn't had any kind of QB mentor. But I don't think he needs one anymore. As this team builds chemistry, they're going to become more and more unbeatable. Other QBs already have whatever chemistry they're going to achieve. But this is an all new system to the Bucs; Baker got only half the reps with "the ones"; and he hasn't played with any of these guys in previous seasons as most other QBs have.

The reason this takes timeline seems wrong is just it doesn't give baker blame for what happened in Cleveland. they hired Freddie kitchens for him, they traded 3 #1's for Odell for him, they had to cut Odell with nothing in return because of him. this narrative they didn't exhaust resources for baker is irritating if not nauseating. the relationship reached a crossroads, baker wanted a ring in his next deal and Cleveland had doubts if he was the one. they wanted someone a lil more secure, who wasn't playing injured for his own hubris at the detriment of team success, who had a history of distributing the ball more effectively because let's be clear business wise and asset management wise, what happened with Odell can never happen again. which to be honest is likely what happened. Baker's handling of Odell broke that team. idk if there's a way around that. the offensive line is too good for that.

So, you think Kitchens helped Baker look good. That makes one of us. OBJ hurt Baker - He muffed a bunch of drive ending, 3rd and 4th down passes; He publicly BRAGS about how well he "ad libs" his routes (not Baker's style); and he was either out injured or recovering most of the time. He was nothing more than a "me, me, me," distraction. I'll take any mid-teared WR over what he did for the Browns. How the hell do you fault BAKER for playing injured? Who's making out the line-ups in that circus? Just another perfect example of a poorly run organization. If you work in a clueless organization, I'm guessing you want out too! Yes, Baker wants to win, and play under guys who have a clue. Not idiots who want to convert him into a pocket passer instead of utilizing his skill set (which is what we're finally going to witness this season.) The Clown's last winning season prior to Baker was in 2007. You either still think that it's a good organization, or you don't think the coaching, etc. matters. Which is it? @@tvtda1

same. i watched the city gain hope for the first time in decades not seen since kosar.... than overnight one of the most toxic cities in the USA showed why it earns those credentials. Cle for multiple years in a row ranked top 3 among all major US cities... the statistics used... Divorce, Murder & Suicide. we didnt deserve him

I have been a Baker fan ever since he walked on at OU. I love his passion and love for the game. He's not perfect, but its not for lack of trying. I became a Browns fan when they drafted Baker, now iam a Bucs fan. Go Baker Go Tampa Bay (old Baker fan in Oklahoma said that)

I am a biased bucs fan, but i think the way things went down with Baker in Cleveland will be looked at as one of the biggest mistakes they have ever made, and they have made alot. This should have been set up to be a dumpsterfire of a season for the Bucs but Baker was basically gifted to us, and is going to help our team be competitive in every game. Im hoping Baker is a Buc for life from this season on.

Fantastic interview. I've always been a Mayfield fan, but now that he's on the Buccaneers I can't get enough. RIP to one of my best friends, Urbano Rodriguez, who died young 15 years ago in a tragic accident. He was a huge OU fan and I can't stop thinking about how happy he'd be to see Baker playing for Tampa Bay. No Ceilings by Lil' Wayne had just came out at the time. Side note: If Baker is a huge military supporter, he's going to be an amazing fit.

I'm a diehard Sooners fan, but hearing that story about Burrow is insane. That LSU squad that went 15-0 and beat like 5 top 10 teams that year was the best offensive college team I have ever seen in my life. The 60+ points that put on the Sooners with 48 points in the first half felt terrible at the time but I was truly in awe at that offense. 2018 Sooners offense holds a special place in my heart though.

I think most people that hate him will never even give him a chance. No matter what success he has, most of those people will constantly build their argument against him. I've never seen anything like it where a guy gas such a following of haters. Maybe he can slay these demons this year, and be done with them.

Great interview…..it was fun and Baker has always been genuine! Lived in Oklahoma most of my life and was a blast to watch him throw and scramble with success! I wish people would be more genuine. They cussed and discussed Baker negatively for years but are now singing his praises. Did he deserve the negatives? Does he deserve the positives? Throughout the 2021 season and into the post-season, both Stefanski and Andrew Berry said over and over in media conferences that "Baker Mayfield is our QB." Either Paul De Podesta and the Haslams overruled those guys or they were lying through their teeth leaving a false impression of their evaluation of Baker. Result: Baker was bushwhacked when the Browns went after the masseuse molester from Houston.

I was a Browns fan for 45 years. They lost me after what they did to Baker Mayfield. The man played nearly an entire season injured & they got rid of him AFTER he turned that 💩 franchise around. Ownership, front office, HC absolute clown show. Where Baker goes I follow and I ALMOST forgive him for planting the OU flag at Ohio State. 😂

That's a great take. Baker has had a few moments that can run some people the wrong way and even make his fans cringe a bit, but he really has a heart if gold, and he is the ultimate hard working underdog. I'm glad you didn't turn on him. Stay tuned and maybe he will have a good year this year.

34:50 Mayfield knows whats up! I'm still mad about the squib kick.. OU squib kicked the kickoff right before half time instead of booting it out of the back of the end zone and Georgia ended up getting a field goal right before half.. OU was still up big at half, but that shifted the momentum and led to them losing the game. The decision to squib kick it makes no sense!

Baker's well out of Cleveland - and I say that as a Browns fan of nearly four decades. Is it any wonder that he'd rather take a sack than break bread with the dolt Haslam? He was stabbed in the back and the front by the Browns. And for what? $230 million squandered on a hot-headed immature man child who seems to be doing his best to singlehandedly ruin all the good work done by the defense. Those progressive commercials were hilarious. That's the problem with Deshaun Watson. I don't think that he is willing to keep the place up like Baker did. That stadium is going to go to hell in a few years.
