It's Friday, so it's time for this week's 'Tea Reads' episode! In this video, I'm joined by my Mum (Donna), and we share our regular Friday routine of a teatime chat about books over a cuppa and a sweet treat we've baked together. In today's episode, Mum and I were inspired by St Patrick's Day earlier in the week to bake Irish 'Barmbrack' (tea loaf). We also share some favourite reads from the week. Hello Miranda and Donna, another cosy tea reads and I will definitely have to make some brack as I do have the pink Mason Cash mixing bowl. The readings were, as usual, really lovely and they always do make me want to dive deeper into the writings and poems of your choices. Good luck with the vaccination Donna, I took some precautionary paracetamol after I had mine and put my feet up for the rest of the day (any excuse for some extra reading time!). I love Irish Brack. I’ve making it for many years. When my kiddies were little and money was a bit tight, I’d make this as a welcome filler to have with a cuppa. I still have the Sainsbury’s recipe book with the recipe. (30 years old) We as a family love it and I made some very recently. Lovely video as always Miranda and Donna.

Well done. Barm Brack is traditionally eaten at Halloween over here in Ireland. Mostly round in shape and we hide a ring inside. If you get the slice with the ring your to be married. I love it. If you have some left over do try it toasted with real butter..... 👍🇮🇪☘️💚

Well... how easy was that fruit loaf, it looked ever so moist, cake and whiskey what’s not to like 🤩 Spring wouldn’t be spring without a bit of Wordsworth, beautifully read too 🥰 I had my vaccine on Wednesday, felt a tad muggy headed, a bit achy and very tired on Thursday, paracetamol got me through, feeling more or less back to normal today! Good luck with yours Donna, hopefully you won’t feel too terrible and we’ll see you back with your lovely smile next week; loved your top BTW, gorgeous colours. Have a lovely weekend ladies 😘

It's so true about that Wordsworth poem. It's the first thing that springs to mind when the daffodils bloom. I have Irish ancestry, but the only recipe I know is coffee with a healthy dollop of Irish cream...I hope all goes well for your mum next week. Thank you for the joyful tea reads. I'm so excited for you and the Girls Gone Wild instagram page - yay!! I already followed. Can't wait to see more. Such a lovely tea reads video. The bread looked so yummy. After hearing your mom read from 'We Will Build You a House' poetry collection, I bought it and I love it! I was wondering if Donna (or you) had another children's poetry book that she could recommend to me? Hoping that all goes well for your mom's back appointment next week. HiBoth. Thank you for your lovely interesting videos. I really enjoy your choice of books , some I have read too .I wonder if you could help me with a problem. I must tell you I am elderly and have four daughters. I would like to buy them each a book to treasure. I was thinking of a children’s classic for instance Hans Christian Anderson stories or similar but I would like something very special that they can keep. My problem is that I don’t know where to look for it. I have looked on folio society Webb site and didn’t see anything so I wonder if you may know of where I could try in the u.k.I thank you in anticipation.

To Donna, good luck with your vaccine. I had my first dose and one item to note: HYDRATE! From what I have read it may help mitigate some side effects. I was fine after my first dose ... only a little soreness around the injection site.

I too look forward to Friday’s and your video of the day! What a yummy loaf to make. The recipe calls for “Fruit mix” what are the fruits used?

Thank you! It’s just the mixed fruit bag you can buy in the shops, which is a blend of candied orange & lemon peel, sultanas, currants and raisins. Enjoy your weekend! 📚💕
