Hello! In today's 'letter' video, I'm sharing some of my autumn highlights, including a visit to Hill Top, Beatrix Potter's former home, in the Lake District.

Well done, Miranda. You captured the essence of autumn beautifully through both the camera and the pen. I also want to say how much I am enjoying your letter series. Last night as I was reading the end of The Brontes biography, I thought about just how much we know about our past based on all of those letters our beloved authors left behind. Now, as I watch you carry on this tradition, I'm encouraged to pick up pen and paper as well.

Dear Miranda, what a joy to have you write us such a wonderful Autumn letter. Quinces and apples and rosehips have all been a delight here. I agree that the seasons are passing so quickly which I think is due to our losing time to sit and stare now that we can do so much more but one of the best seasons is to come and I can't wait to see what further delights you bring us from your gorgeous Yorkshire home. What a delightful letter, Miranda! Loved Beatrix's books as a child and often read them to my daughter when she was a little girl. Would love to visit her house someday! The deer park reminds me of my neighborhood except our deer here in the mountains of Virginia look quite different. Love to see how you and your mum are enjoying autumn. My husband and I took advantage of the very warm weather today to plant tulip bulbs. Blooms to look forward to next spring! Thank you so much for sharing the beauty of Yorkshire! Miranda, if I may call you that, this was absolutely delightful! Your letter writing truly reflects the joy of writing and receiving letters. Your style is so personable and descriptive that it really connects with the reader, or in this case, the listener. I have never given up letter writing. I’ve written them since I was twelve. I am advancing toward my seventh decade, through God’s Grace. I don’t have many correspondents, but a few do respond. That’s enough. I enjoy the writing itself. That may be because I have journaled also since I was twelve. The photography in your videos is book worthy. And it is delightful how you share your joy and enthusiasm for the world around us. Oh, by the way, I have become even more of a book hoarder since discovering your channel. A truly blissful dilemma on my part. Thank you for sharing your love of reading and the pleasures in your life and your sweet mother’s. This was wonderful and I am sharing it with my letter writing friends as a perfect little gift. We do not have glorious blue skies here in Oregon, but if I am being generous rather Earl Grey skies. So looking forward to the warm colors of the holidays. I do have 3 lemons on my little lemon tree so that is a blessing..

Such a lovely video. I decorated both of my babies' nurseries with a Beatrix Potter theme. I loved reading the stories to my children. They are both grown now, but I look fondly upon that time.

This was such a gift after a somewhat stressful afternoon. I now feel so centered and serene. I loved watching the deer. Sometimes I'm lucky to spot some on my walks and in my yard and never mind it if they nibble my plants or flowers. Such beautiful, elegant animals. Thank you, Miranda!

This is so, so lovely! Seeing the pheasants run across the road made me giggle. We have quail where I live and they look so funny when they're running. Hill Top looks like the epitome of charm. I hope to go there one day!

Outstanding! Hilltop Farm is absolutely beautiful & so charming, both inside & out! I loved it! I really love Beatrix Potter! She truly was a creative genius in every way! Visiting her Cottage here, was just like stepping back in time & being with her! Beyond this, your filming of this beautiful countryside, with such pretty flowers, lovely trees & foliage, is just breathtaking! All of this, along with the majestic deer & such wonderful Poetry, just makes it all complete! Thank you for sharing this delightful experience!

Oh!!! I forgot to tell you how Autumn is going in North Carolina.. one word “Barely” some days we get a cool day almost a glimpse of what Autumn use to be and most days like today it’s 73 degrees Fahrenheit at 3 in the afternoon…I wish it was consistently cool so I can feel like the holidays are close bye.., whine… whine… whine..😂😂😂 but I’m enjoying reading and doing winter theme puzzles 🧩

Thank you! It's amazing, I love your letters so much. I've watched one from London several times and I'll watch it again & again. I love Beatrix Potter's style, her illustrations are fabulous. I always introduce my students to her works within the course on British illustrators. Couldn't help noticing daisies, i.e. one of the most famous wallpaper patterns designed by W. Morris. BTW, I read in the introduction to 'Diary of a Provincial Lady' that E.M. Delafield also wrote 'The Provincial Lady in Russia' which I'm curious about now. I'm looking forward to the weekend in order to read it. Thank you for your book club🍁🍁🍁

Your celebration of Yorkshire and, in fact, the North in general is really inspiring to me. I feel so much pride in my home county of Lancashire and our spectacular landscapes. Have you ever visited Lancaster? Ashton Memorial is truly breathtaking and offers magnificent views across to Morecambe Bay and the Lakes beyond. The Trough of Bowland and Clitheroe in the shadow of Pendle Hill is also hugely worth visiting. Forest of Bowland is home to some of the finest pubs and restaurants in the country. Your video was just gorgeous; I love the "letter" format - very clever x

I have always loved Beatrix Potter. What a treat to be able to see her house. Your outfit on your visit there was so perfect. Enjoyed the rest of the vlog too. You have pheasants running across the road, here we have quail running here and there. Never get tired of watching them. Also Road Runners. Wiley coyote can't be too far away. 😂. Great job Miranda. What a gorgeous & serene experience! This was beautiful, & I loved seeing Hilltop House through your eyes. I have read a couple of Beatrix Potter biographies & found her to be an extraordinary artist & a champion of land conservation. I’ve even cross-stitched a few of her illustrations on counted fabric for the young ones in my family. So appreciated the lovely music chosen as well. Charming & delightful…well done, Miranda! 🖋📚

What a beautiful video! I love Near Sawrey and Hill Top Farm. Seeing this makes me want to return. One day after the pandemic is passed, I am sure I will. I am reproducing a miniature version of the quilt on Beatrix Potter's bed. I dream of taking it there when it is finished to photograph it. What an utterly stunning video. Beatrix Potter is a favourite of mine and I would dearly love to visit Hill Top one day. The other vistas near where you live are all so very beautiful that I now long to visit Yorkshire to see for myself. Autumn in the area of Canada in which I live is quite lovely with the vibrant colours of the leaves and lots of birds coming to my feeder. We have quite different ones from the UK. Looking forward to your next video. Cheers from Canada.

Beatrix Potter is so beloved. Her home, featured in your amazingly beautiful video, expresses the many reasons we all love your channel so much. Lovely video Miranda, thank you. I have been to Hilltop a few years ago. Did you see the doll’s house? I think it inspired Beatrix Potter to write the story about the bad mice who moved in and trashed the kitchen (?) I can’t remember but they made a mess in the story I mean. Hawkshead and the surrounding countryside must be one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever visited.
