Hello my lovelies, thanks for joining me as I embark on my first ever attempt at making a Christmas cake. I learned a lot over the last few weeks through the process and I'm sure I'll get better over the coming years! I followed Mary Berry's recipe linked below and I hope it tastes as good as one of hers! Lol!! Thanks so much for watching! xoxo

I really enjoyed watching you make this cake. My Mam always made our Christmas cake but we lost her in 2016-she was only 4 months short of 100 so we were blessed to have her so long. We have not had a cake since so after watching you I'm going to head out to store to pick up ingredients and will give it a try! Thank you. I'm now living in the USA! Happy New Years!🌹🌲🎉🇬🇧

Hi Lisa. I've made this cake 2 years running now. It's absolutely fantastic. You will definitely enjoy it. Just keep feeding it to keep it moist. I bought myself a srynge to inject the brandy into the cake.

My dad used to make his own Christmas cakes jam tarts mince pies lemon curd tarts every Christmas, but he not longer with us I miss him. I love to try make my own Christmas. Your Christmas cake looks lovely. Brilliant viedo

I changed to the Mary Berry recipe for 5 years ago and never looked back! Her Christmas pud is great its made with butter not suet and you beat the butter and suger like a cake so it is not like a cannon ball !

That looks lovely, simply elegant. Well done. I bet it will taste lovely. Many years ago my late dad iced his cake with homemade royal icing....looked great with some snowy peaks etc. But.....actually trying to cut it was nigh on impossible with out breaking the knife , and we had to suck the icing, which resembled very sharp ceiling artex...!, bless him. But it tasted great and is a lovely memory. 😁

Add 1 tsp glycerine to the royal icing. It keeps it soft

This cake looks sooo good. I've been making Mary berry's Christmas cake for a few years now and absolutely love it. I made this years cake earlier on tonight. I noticed that you put in 35 g of sultanas though - I think it should be 350 g??.

I have been making this cake for the last 4 years. Mary Berry's Christmas Cake is the only cake my family will eat, they absolutely love it. I have already been reminded that Christmas cake is on me as usual😁 However, I don't do decoration - haven't got the patience, too much faff!!

Hi Lisa planning on doing this exactly same as yours this year as it’s January and being my first attempt going to do a trial run without the icing etc Then do the full works in November useful video thanks dave

please could you give me advice about where i could find a deep enough tin for this. recipie say 23 cm diameter but i cant find a deep enough one. how deep is the cake ?? how deep is your cake tin ??? i can remember when my freind gave me a slice last year it was very deep like yours

23cm is the diameter of the tin, if you search 23cm deep cake tin you will see x

Hi Lisa, on the marzipan pack and on the recipe it says to wait few days to allow to dry before adding the icing. I see you don't do it. Does it work out the same? Thanks... Great tutorial btw.

Thanks so much! It worked out fine without waiting, but this year I’m planning to add more marzipan so I’ll let it dry out for a couple of days before I ice it x

Hi Lisa, am trying to do your cake and can’t find: 1) the mixed spices. Can I add cinnamon & nutmeg. And 2) the black treacle. By what can it be replaced? Tks for your reply. 😘

Cinnamon and nutmeg fine. No point buying new spices and only using them once a year. Black treacle alternatives- honey, golden syrup or molasses sugar (a dark sugar)

How funny is that! I’ve literally done that in my lunch hour today! 😂😂 mine is in the utility, on the draining board of the sink. It seemed to do well there last year! I suppose anywhere cool and out of direct sunlight will be fine xx
